I want to offer advice to Airbnb hosts: they should not consider a sofa bed equivalent to a standard bed, and they should highlight whether the building has elevator access. This will eliminate the need for guests to message the host for additional requests.
Hi @Jen11280
I assume you had a bad experience as a guest with an incorrectly labeled bed?
When we set up our photos, we group them into rooms. For each room, the correct bed type should be selected. Sofa bed is an option, but it's possible that some listings aren't correctly set up.
In future you can scroll to the "Where you'll sleep" section of the listing. If it's correctly set up, it'll show a photo and a description of each bed, which you can check to make sure it's suitable.
The primary reason I highly recommend this issue to Airbnb hosts is that when I apply the filter and select 3 beds, the sofa bed unexpectedly appears. I just wish I didn't have to waste my time using the 'where you'll sleep' option.
Hello @Jen11280
That's a very valid point you make Jen but unfortunately this is the way Airbnb has set up their search system so as hosts if we supply a sofa bed, it gets counted in our total bed count.
Ideally, there should be a search system that would allow a guest to exclude a sofa bed in the bed count but I'm not sure that I have even seen that as an option on any of the major booking platforms or even hotel sites?
We wish for the Airbnb company to consider our proposal during their future system upgrades.
