We have a no smoking policy and our guests keep saying they are not smoking, yet I smell smoke. I saw something called Minut that seems to sense cigarettes and noise (I'm not worried about the noise) but can anyone recommend a sensor that can actually detect cigarette smoking?

Thank you for the tag Alex!
Ilana, we got two Wynd Sentry detectors about 18 months ago (one in each room), and have been absolutely thrilled. Looks like current pricing is $180 for one sensor and your first years subscription (@ $15/mo).
The system instantly sends you a text and an app alert when it detects cigarette/vape smoke, and it shows how much (parts per million, Ppm) and how long. We noticed that guests that were vaping usually hit 50-100 ppm for a couple minutes and then it went away. Guests that were smoking lit cigarettes/weed would get to 4-500ppm for a longer period of time.
Regardless, it gave us the option to give the guests a warning, and we actually kicked a few out, since we are renting a basement and our kids are upstairs. The wynd app gave us all the evidence we needed for Airbnb to charge our smoking fee and support our decisions.
Enjoy!

Hello @Ilana126,
Thank you for sharing your question about smoke detectors! I know this topic has been quite popular in the Community Center, and because of that, I found a link where various hosts have shared their insights on this matter: Should I get Smoke Detectors? 👈
Also, I'm going to tag some members from this thread to see if they can give you some more recommendations: @Jordan746,@Ryan3559, @Andrew3400, @Tom4480 and @Emily2302.
Hope we can help you!
Best,
Alex
Wynd and Minut will be your best bet.
Also, smokers will usually leave other evidence behind beyond the smell: butts, packaging, lighters, ashes, etc.
Create a process so your cleaners know to document these items with photos prior to cleaning them up.
For remedy measures we have an ozone machine as well as ozium cannisters and spray on standby for all units to address and remove the smell even on same day turns.

@Ilana126 I use the Wynd in one of my units. It is good for smoke and decibel level. The Wynd can give off some false positives such as the oven being on and also making toast. We were in the unit when using the oven and the warnings went off.
