Christmas Decorations

Hello ,

I own some properties in the USA and would like to add Christmas decorations. Do you charge guests for this? How much? If not, what kind of decorations do you typically use in your properties?

Thank you!

It would never occur to me to charge for Christmas decorations! Scrooge-like to even think of it.

@Aviator1  As long as you are located close to your rental, add some Christmas/Holiday decor.  Do not, however, rely on your cleaner to decorate as well.  That is not their job unless you pay extra.

I add small decorative seasonal items.  If my guest is staying over Christmas and wants a tree, I will provide either a tabletop fake tree or a small real tree -- for a price.  In past years that price has been calculated as the cost of the real tree plus 2-3 hours of time to add decorations.  I have had guests who will pay for the tree but want a box of decorations that they can add themselves.

You will also need to consider storage of a fake tree and a box of holiday decorations.

I would consider seasonal decor to be an amenity that you provide at no charge to a guest.  I mean, how would you even bring it up to a guest?  Would you say in a message after they book the space, "hey, if you want a xmas tree here, it would be $XXX."  As a guest I would be rather offended and may even cancel thinking that it's a scam.

I change out my decor, bedding, etc., with changes of the season, but its my decision as a host and that just goes into my overall overhead expense.  Keep it simple and avoid anything religious.  People don't want a lot of clutter and not everyone is Christian.

No, I don’t charge for Christmas decorations!

I would add small decorative items just for the feel of Christmas!
