Until today I was not aware the opportunity of "contributions" was existing, see:
https://www.airbnb.com/account-settings/payments/guest-contributions
and now just wondered:
Did anybody ever received a "tip" from guests ?
And also wondered:
How and when (review process ?) is this opportunity presented to guests ?
Emeil, I made sure I did not allow Airbnb to reduce me to the status of a beggar, and as soon as I got the notification that Airbnb were putting this proposal to my past guests to send some nickels and dimes to help us hosts along, I disabled it immediately via that screenshot link you showed.
I did receive some nice emails from past guests which purported to come with an accompanying card. But even that was half baked. The link to open the card did not work!
This company never ceases to amaze us with the half baked ideas they come up with Emiel.
Cheers........Rob
"nickels and dimes" LOL....
But i am still wondering when this "proposal to donate" is made to a guest.
After check-out ? After review ?
I saw it was introduced in april, must have missed it in the "pandemic" mess.
and it generated a lot of comments.
I now turned it off also, seems to be "on" by default, i don't want Aibnb sending "begging" emails on my behalf to former guests.
Best regards,
Emiel
The 'kindness card' initiative was hastily buried almost as soon as it was rolled out. As predicted by hundreds of disgusted hosts who warned Airbnb that the scheme would go down like a ton of bricks, it was met with ridicule and utter disbelief by guests, the media and the general public alike. But Airbnb just wouldn't listen..
