I have 3 separate rooms that rent out of the same house in Mexico City. The house just went through a major remodel to make it look more modern and cleaner. Now, the rooms look soulless and uninviting. I am not physically in the city where the property is so I need someone who could help buying a few pieces and styling the rooms. However, I am working on an extremely tight budget (after the renovation). Has anyone hired someone to help with something like this? Where did you find them? I appreciate all the help!
As you're on a tight budget then why not source items yourself via FB marketplace /charity shops/local stores @Gaby369
You could then combine with a holiday to your STR to set up your place and take photos or pay your local cohost to do it for you.
Hi @Gaby369
I do have a daughter in law (a local) in Mexico City who has recently decorated their new apartment there... some interest.. but the "extremely tight budget" makes her hesitant...
let me know if making contact is sensible.
Regards, Graham
Hi @Gaby369, welcome to the community! I wanted to jump in with a professional and generous perspective on how to bring the "soul" back into a modern space without breaking your budget. Transitioning from a major remodel to a cozy, inviting atmosphere can be a challenge, but you can achieve a pure soul aesthetic even from a distance. Instead of hiring a high-end designer, I recommend looking for local art students or virtual stylists on platforms like Upwork or Fiverr who specialize in sustainable and affordable decor. You can guide them to focus on Living Decor incorporating indoor plants like Peace Lilies, Aloe Vera, and Snake Plants, which act as natural air purifiers and instantly add warmth and life to a sterile room. At my homestay, Kiyo's Den, I find that using organic materials like wood, thread, or even art made from old leaves can create a deep, psychedelic, or nature-integrated feel that feels intentional rather than random. These small, budget-friendly touches like a hand-crafted wall hanging or a well-placed succulent show the guest that there is a real heart behind the business, transforming a "modern" space into a sanctuary. Good luck with your rooms in Mexico City!
