Do you change between quilts and comforters with the seasons?

Hello everyone! 😊

I would like to open this new post with a quote from Henry Beston, a writer and naturalist

“The leaves fall, the wind blows, and the farm country slowly changes from summer cotton into its winter woods.”

Since we’re talking about new seasons and changes, have you ever thought about switching between quilts and comforters as the seasons change?

I think it’s a simple way to enhance comfort and create a cozy atmosphere.

  • Lightweight quilts are fantastic for warmer months, keeping things breezy while adding a bit of charm to your space.
  • When the temperatures drop, a plush comforter makes all the difference, wrapping your guests in warmth.

I am wondering if you switch your bedding with the seasons or if you prefer to stick with one option year-round. Have you ever had guests who shared feedback about comforters and bedding?

I look forward to reading your thoughts!

Warm regards 🌻,

@Elisa Yes I switch all the beds from light cotton patchwork quilts I use in summertime to comforters in organic linen duvet covers at my home in rural Maine. In the main bedroom I have a RSD-Certified down comforter (Responsible Down Standard) and the other has an organic wool comforter. I also provide extra cotton fleece and wool blankets in the bedrooms and have lots of extra throws all around the house:-)

Hi @Linsay7 😊

Thank you for this comment!

I can tell you use very good materials and you seem to know them very well.

Is it due to your passion or something else?

@Elisa I do not change the comforters on my beds. I live in the south and we have mild winters. However, I do have a variety of quilts and blankets to add to the existing comforter for extra warmth as needed.

Hi @Linda3279 😊

Thank you for this insight!

It’s great to give so many choices to your guests. Are they satisfied with these options?

@Elisa Since we are in a very warm humid climate (Florida) we only use lightweight quilt/coverlets so they can easily be laundered between each stay. We have blankets stored separately for those wanting additional warmth.

@Elisa No quilts always. I do keep fluffy blankets smelling great and ready to use though out the home during winter

Hi @Karen4231 😊

I went to Florida last Christmas, and it was so magical!

Do your guests use the AC at night as well?

@Elisa Well, they certainly can! It has been known to be close to 90 degrees sometimes on Christmas Day, so in that case they would most definitely be using the AC
