Fire doors 3 storey property

In the early stages of converting ground floor garage to airbnb in our 3 storey property. Confused about fire door requirements! Airbnb guests would only have access to the ground floor, separated by stairwell and lockable door. Would we get away with fire doors on their entry/exit and the door between us and them - and normal doors on the residential part of our property, or do we have to put fire doors everywhere on all 3 storeys??

Perhaps you should ask a Fire Marshall, building inspector or your local zoning department.

Hello @Pippa67, thank you for reaching out to our host community for their advice!

Lorna has shared some excellent advice. Have you considered hiring a building inspector to ensure you are in compliance with the law?

Hi @Pippa67

Have a look at the fire regulations introduced last autumn you need to do a fire assessment as part of the regulations which will identify what you need to meet the requirements.

you can either do this yourself or pay a local expert to do it for you.

@Helen3 In true Uk Government style they have only published a guide for 2 storey houses. Anything above this or open plan has not yet been dealt with!

Perhaps they will get around to it sometime soon but sadly I doubt it!
