Guest brought huge dog

Have a guest staying at Airbnb our listing says no pets and they decided to bring a huge dog I wasn’t aware tell someone saw this huge dog and now I’m wondering what to do we absolutely do not want dogs here

@Malea11

If your listing clearly mentions “no pets allowed”, then the guest is violating your house rules.

I would suggest first messaging the guest politely through the Airbnb app and reminding them about the house rule.

Ask them to arrange alternative accommodation for the dog as pets are not permitted at your property.

Also make sure to keep all communication documented on Airbnb. If the guest refuses to cooperate, you can contact Airbnb Support and report that the guest has broken your house rules.

Since the rule was already mentioned in the listing, you are within your rights as a host to enforce it.

Keep me updated.

Sense I am a new host when it asks in house rules that does show to the guests as well right because that’s where I have stated it . I also read a bit and a lot of people are saying you can’t do anything about a dog .

@Malea11

I would rather suggest you to contact Airbnb Support Team and ask for their involvement in this case.

Bon courage.

Of course you can do something.
  1. If possible, take photos or videos of the dog.
  2. Send a message via BNB messaging and remind them of the house rules. Ask them to find alternative accommodation for the dog.
  3. Notify BNB to protect yourself from any potential retaliation.
  4.
You can either request a substantial cleaning fee for the extra work, or
Have BNB cancel the reservation without refund, as they have broken the house rules, and without penalty for yourself.
5. When you leave a review, don’t forget to mention this incident and report it.
6. If you use Instant Book, turn it off.
You’ll be able to choose your guests and ask them questions, such as whether they’ve read the house rules.
Best of luck!
