Hello everyone! 😊
Incorporating local culture into your decor creates a unique atmosphere for your guests, and it's a great way to connect people to the community and history of the area.
I think adding locally crafted items, like pottery, textiles, or woodwork, brings authenticity while supporting artisans from your region. Locally inspired artwork or vintage photographs can also tell a story about the culture and natural beauty of the surroundings.
Have you thought about how to bring local culture into your decor?
Do you add locally crafted items to support local artisans from your region? What kind of items do you usually add?
I look forward to reading your choices!
Warm regards 🌻,

Hi @Elisa ,
Yes, several of the paintings on the walls are by local artists. We welcome our guests with local Santo Domingo coffee and offer them local Presidente beer.

Hi @Isabel5255 😊,
Thank you for sharing this here! I love the idea of the paintings. 😍
How did you decide on that?
Do you have any nice pictures to share here?

@Elisa ,
I'd love to share! I don’t have updated pictures with me at the moment, but I’ll be sure to take some on my next visit and share them with you
Best,
Isabel

Hello, we have two cabins with a comfortable, warm and minimalist inspiration in Punta Arenas, Chile, by the Strait of Magellan. Since we constructed them recently, they are not yet decorated with local inspiration on the interior—a pending item. What does have a Patagonian local touch is our rustic garden, which is growing with native species, currants, and raspberries.
Hi @Jon5301 😊,
Thank you so much for sharing this here!
It’s very interesting to read about how you love sharing the local culture with your guests.
I’m a fan of minimalism too! Why did you decide to go with that style? I know some people don’t appreciate it because it doesn’t say much.
Warm regards🌻,

Hi!,
Through minimalism, we seek peace and visual order; however, each person finds comfort and beauty in their own way, so I believe you’re right that minimalism may not be the answer for those who enjoy the charm of spaces filled with details and personalization.
We believe that balance is the answer.
Best regards
Hi @Jon5301 😊,
You shared a great definition of minimalism with me, and I completely agree. This is why I love it!
Do your guests appreciate this? Have you received any feedback on the design of your property?

Yes, I love including mountain and skiing related decor into my guest spaces! The guests frequently comment that they love the mountain vibe and it feels "on brand" for what they expect on a ski or mountain vacation.
I've incorporated vintage ski photos, old wood snowshoes, skis hand painted by a local artisan, my own local photography printed on canvas, and other local art I've picked up at craft fairs and the local resale or thrift shop. I have a few throw pillows that say "Ski Lodge" and include faux fur throws (from Target) and comfy pillows that give that snuggle-in vibe. Hygge I think they call it!
Lately I've been swapping out basic chairs and stools in favor of hickory style (look like wooden sticks but are heirloom quality) whenever I run across them. A few stuffed bears around also provide that soft touch that people seem to enjoy.
