I have never hosted pets or have never had one of my own! This is purely because I am scared that if guests bring pets then the level of cleanliness may not be achieved for the next guests who may not be in favour of this (i.e pet hair lingering in places where they can not be removed or not coming out of sheets etc )
I love animals and become very good friends with them.I fully appreciate that pets are part of a family and guests would want them with them !Yet as I never had an experience of having them in my flat,I am curious to know how other guests have experienced this.
Thanks so much in advance!
I host dogs. I provide a dog bed, scoop and bags. Most of the time it is good however I have had a dog pee on the white towels, one ruin the bed sheets and another poop near the step and everyone walked through it. Use a pet vacuum. Empty it after a dog has stayed. I have a wooden floor. I remove the lounge rug when there is a dog. Good luck.
thanks sooo much 🙂 just wondering what percentage of the normal night fee would you additionally charge per night-5% ?

I charge $25 per night
Hi @Sotiria6 ,
We also take dogs. Good tips from @Bronwyn100 .
Here's some additional insight:
- dog fee - consider the cost of boarding a dog in your local area. This is what helps guide us on our nightly rate. Sometimes we do a nightly rate and other times a flat rate - it depends on a bunch of factors for us (including if high or low season, overall human occupancy, are they already paying a premium rate or discounted seasonal rate, number of nights booked, etc).
- extra cleaning: we alert our cleaning crew when there is a dog in a reservation so that the appropriate amount of time can be blocked out by them to accommodate. In some cases, no extra time is needed, and others a lot of extra time is needed. Removing dog hair can be very time consuming and tedious. Some breeds have hair that just really sticks no matter what and removing it is almost a manual process. For us, we have 6 exterior doors with glass panels and there can be a lot of extra glass cleaning from a dogs wet nose or tongue to try and clean.
- include a spray to clean up dog urine in your cleaning supplies - both for a guest to use and for you/cleaning team.
- if you have wood flooring I would strongly recommend adding a rug as mentioned previously.
Good luck!
