Hi Deirdre,

My space is a small one, so I use a closet to store supplies with a  deadbolt combination lock like this one: Schlage BE375 CAM 619 Touch Camelot Deadbolt, Electronic Keyless Entry Lock, Satin Nickel https://a.co/d/5Wn0G3c. (My guests have drawers and hooks/hangers available, but rarely use them.)

I have seen whole-house spaces that have combination locks on EVERY bedroom/bath door (so that, if only 1 bedroom is needed, guests have access to ONLY the linens provided for THEM, and they leave the other 2 or 3 bedrooms alone... In my mind this would save hosts a LOT of laundry and cleaning, supplies, and such, and the savings would pay for the locks in a hurry.

I have asked people who clean the houses, and you would be surprised at how many people, even it they only require ONE bed, have to use EVERY bed in the house.

Blessings and best of luck!

Sonya

You need to secure any sentimental or valuable items in a spare room, attic is similar. You can put locks on wardrobes /cupboards.

in the kitchen you need to clear fridges/freezers and have local cupboards for your own food.

you need a lockable cupboard for cleaning /any gift items you leave for guests @Deirdre162

Put your valuables in a safe.

Clear some hanging space for guests.

Put a lock on your crystal display cupboard and leave out glasses & crockery they can use.
Otherwise relax and remember they are guests in your home and yes curiosity will mean they will look in your underwear drawer😂

Hi there, we don’t have personal belongings at our airbnbs any more. But in the past we’ve put padlocks on certain cupboards and put away important things here. We’ve never had a problem with this. Sometimes if you have the space you could given lock up a whole room

We have a private storage room behind a locked door.

We actually have a closet that is locked in our Airbnb for storage and cleaning supplies.

if it’s anything that valuable just remove it from that space altogether.  That’s my opinion anyway.

however,  If it’s something that nice and you want others to see it,  put a picture on the wall of it for everyone to see.

We have a closet that is locked with our cleaning supplies and personal items.

Hi I use our hall coat closet for our personal things. We put this lock on it too.
Mechanical Password Rotary Hasp Locks, Door Security Slide Latch Lock for Small Doors, Cabinets, Barn Door, Bathroom, Outdoor, Garage, Garden (Black) https://a.co/d/gZzjA6V

We also have a storage cabinet in our garage with a lock. It’s for the extra paper goods and any personal garage items.

I hope this helps.

Same. Keep a locked closet for personal supplies/belongings.

Have a closet that is locked. You will need that for personal belongings but also for your bed sheets and all the rest that you dont want your guests to use

Hi @Deirdre162 , it all depends on your property, how many rooms you have and the furniture you have in the property. I have a 3 bedrooms apartment so I made one bedroom into a washroom / storeroom and I have cabinets in the living room that I can lock both the washroom/ storeroom and cabinets.  Like this when guests arrive all my personal belongings are closed in safe place. I also have a walk in wardrobe room which I can lock too. Since I am single I only have my staff and no other staff of a second person so all fit in different areas. So now I have 2 double bedrooms which I prefer than 3 double bedrooms as I only allow 4 guests and not 6 guests as 6 guests will maybe go over the board.  If you need more help just send me a message, I will be glad to help you. Marco

Hi Again. I checked your profile listing of your house and is really nice. I wanted to check how many rooms you have but did not succeed to help you find store your personal belonging. One thing I noticed is that you have a lot of spare space to put furniture that you can lock. I do not know if I am right ? Another tip I wish to tell you is the photos of your property are small. Can you change them so that your property so that one can   see better ? If you check mine the photos are larger. If you can add more photos as I did it will help you to rent more. Like photos of the mountains which are close to your house, the restaurants and other. details   I took my photos only with my mobile.

Hi @Deirdre162 , you should buy a safe for jewelleries and cash money, and you also should make contract with a security team.

@Deirdre162 We have a 2-story house with a basement. This is not our main home. We tell guests to stick to the main floor and second floor - and stay out of the basement. All entrances to the basement are locked and guests not provided with keys. That’s how we’ve solved it.

Hello, before we move out we used the garage and we just added notes that the garage was not part of the rental and that it was use for storage and now that I finally left my house I was thinking of having it as a playroom for the guest and their kids💕
