How do you get your sheets/linen/doona cover crease free?

Hi everyone,

I’m fairly new to this and starting to get the hang of the cleaning side of things, but I’m struggling with getting crease-free linen.

How do you get your sheets and doona covers looking smooth and tidy without wrinkles?

I take everything out of the washing machine straight away and hang it up neatly, then fold it once it’s dry but it still ends up quite creased. I store the linen in large bags so it’s ready to grab when I’m heading off to clean the house.

I don’t have the ability to iron or press linen, so I’m hoping there might be a trick to minimise wrinkly linen.

Would love to hear what works for you. Thank you so much in advance!

Thanks everyone, for taking the time to share such helpful advice. I really appreciate it.

I will certainly try some of the suggestions, but since I have cotton sheets, I feel, maybe I am having too high expectations. The wrinkles aren't too bad, I just felt they should be wrinkle free, like in hotels... But, since this is a side hussle, and I have limited time, and not the equpment they have at hotels (‌‌😆) I might have to settle for a few wrinkles in the sheets.

Thanks again for all the support and great suggestions

I try to avoid scents as some people may have allergies or just may not like them.
I do love lavender on my own though!

@Clair16  💯 , also from what I read in the community , both hosts and guests prefer fragrance free listings due to above reasons!

How do you keep your space smelling clean without relying on scents though? Hosts are always looking for new tricks that don’t involve air fresheners. So I wondered if you could share some of your best tips with us!

On warm days, I open windows and let the fresh air flow in while I’m cleaning.
for cleaning I mostly use vinegar Dawn and baking soda in some fashion  to clean. Vinegar is a natural deodorizer.  So that helps.  I do use Lysol when there have been pets in the home.
I have never had a complaint about the smell.  Our listings are rural. So there isn’t city smells and no livestock close enough for it to be a problem. The only time I wouldn’t open windows is in the summer if it’s Smokey.  I do have an air purifier that I use as well.

That's a great routine @Clair16 ! What do you do during winters though? Here in Toronto during winters,  I struggle quiet a bit with opening windows and letting fresh air in 🙈 Do you have any tricks up your sleeves that could be helpful during winters?

P.S. I saw your listing photos of hidden house in the trees. I must say it's gorgeous! Do you often see wildlife visiting your listing occasionally? 😍

Thank you.
Yes we have deer here often.  We used to see elk but rarely now.
Coyotes, bobcats, cougar all have been seen here. There have been reports of bear from neighbors but we haven’t seen them ourselves.

That's quite a visit @Clair16 ! Do you see them in every season or there are some seasons where they stop visiting? 😉

If I am not mistaken, I know one of the host @Kitty-and-Creek0 has quite a lot of adventures with bears near her listings! 😍

@Clair16 , do you live somewhere near both of your listings?

Not on our property we have seen lots of sign when we are out hiking locally though.  I have never seen a bear on our property.

That's so interesting though @Clair16 ! May be one day you'll be able to see them and capture pictures .... 🐻😉

I would love that!

Love hearing that others are reluctantly accepted as neighbors  by the local wildlife. We have 180 protected acres in our back yard; filled with bears, cougars, bobcats, fox, snakes, deer and less exotic wildlife. Lots of birds of all sorts, so we are a treasure to birders, and native plants people.

Tens of thousands of acres of wilderness are adjacent to us, so those  who roam, like male lions and bears, know they are safe and welcome here. We hike frequently on the land, so all the wild neighbors know who we are, by our smell, and that we personally will not molest them. Still, they are so smart, we don't see them. They know humans are naturally unpredictable and thus potentially dangerous.

Such a privilege to be stewards of this sanctuary!

Wow @Kitty-and-Creek0 , that sounds absolutely magical! Being able to live with nature and closely observe it is a dream for many. And I am so glad to read that you cherish every moment of it 😍

Have you ever had a guest spot something or get really excited about the wild neighbours? Especially for guests with kids, it must be like a jungle safari , no?

We take our guests on hikes a lot, and they can help us retrieve the chips from our wildlife trail cameras. They can also see some of our 30 years of trail camera videos, if they wish. It is fun for them to recognize our wild neighbors using the same trails as they just hiked on. They also learn about important things like poison oak, rattlesnakes, and - in season - a bit of mushroom identification. We have nature books in their space about identification of just about everything out there, including our incredible stars, planets & clouds! We have a telescope & binoculars in the guest space, as well as on the deck. Creek is always available for a night sky show, weather permitting. ❤️🐻

You're so right, we love this life!

This is such a wholesome experience @Kitty-and-Creek0 ! I can’t think of a better way for guests to connect with the land and the wildlife than actually joining you on a hike and checking out those trail cam videos.

Since you live in these amazing surroundings, I am just thinking out curiosity, have you ever tried to list it as an Airbnb experience, or do you prefer just the way things are right now? 😍

We're totally fine with this as it is. We've always taken guests on hikes, at any number of locations on our ranch. At certain times of year we all go fishing for crawdads in our one acre pond. Just like the planet spotting and star shows, hotpot/shabu shabu in winter...this is something that we consider part of normal hospitality, here.
