Hi people! I would really need your help. My aunt and I are about to rent out an apartment in Triest. We ourselves live in Au...
So, I just got a new Smart TV for the AirBnB guest room. I have Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime accounts that they can peruse. My issue is that, on my Amazon Prime account, guests are completely able to rent and buy movies and TV shows without my prior consent or knowledge.
Has anyone dealt with this and, if so, how? I want my guests to feel comfortable, but I also want to create a system by which they are accountable for what they spend on MY account.
Thanks in advance,
Megan

For Amazon, set a pin requirement for purchases.

Oh awesome! Thanks!
My pleasure. I have a smart TV in my space also, and it was the first thing I investigated before installing it, lol.
Brilliant! Thank you!
Did you manage to find a way of managing to use the Netflix but in a way where your guests do not see your profile or what you are watching and you do not see their watch list ?
Just an FYI: It is against Amazon & Netflix's TOS' (terms of service) to use their residential accounts in a business setting (which AirBnB most certainly is...as for instance many many jourisdictions make you pay hotel/occupancy taxes, for instance) Taxation is not the only thing Amazon/Netflix consider in this situation - but it's just an FYI. They *can* and *will* terminate you if they find out.
My solution? I reset the TV to factory settings after each guest and invite them to use their own credentials.

Have you ever heard of this happening?
I've had this issue. Just had guests charge $50 of porn on my Amazon Prime and then skip out without paying. Seems that you cannot set a PIN that disallows purchases only. The PIN disallows viewing period. So putting in the PIN disables Amazon Prime basically. I still have Netflix which doesn't seem to lure people into buying stuff as frequently as Amazon Prime and offers a wider variety of "free" content. But resetting to factory settings each time might be the way to go. There is really no easy solution for smart TV use in an Airbnb I feel.
Ugh. We just bought two fire tvs and same issue. They can’t watch anything if I put a pin in.
anyone want to buy a couple of tvs? Haha
Mine is set up with cable as well so there are plenty of choices for my guests included.
If they want to watch other subscription based services they can only watch using thier own accounts/info at thier cost.
