Just started so a lot to learn and probably improve, but it would be interesting to get some 1st impressions and feedback for "SliDoor".

Hello Emmanuel,

What a cute little pad in a great location!

Personally - I'd go through your 78 pics and choose maybe 15- 25 really great ones.

You have repeated the same photos.

Potential guests need to be wowed in the first few seconds Take photo's in natural light, if possible and maybe then edit them - crop and adjust brightness.

Only recently launched and in process of editing pics and adding descriptions etc.

Already got a number of bookings and am signing up with a hosting co. to push it, help polish set up and make things easier overall, hopefully.

@Emmanuel1577  Actually, the pictures need a TON of work. There is so much repetition in the pics, so many duplicates, I couldn't make it through all of them. I also have NO idea how big or small your flat is, how the rooms relate to one another, and basically anything else about the space. You need somewhere between 20-30 pics. 

 

It started with about 10 pics of your living room(?), and I still have no idea how big or small the space is (it looks very small). 

 

Most of the pics have no captions- use the captions! Take pics of the whole room! 

 

In the About This Space area, describe the space. The actual space! Not the neighborhood or the age of the building. Describe the bedrooms and living space, and where they are in relation to one another. 

Use the captions with the pics so guests know what they are looking at. And think about capacity. Do you really want 6 guests in there? Higher capacity isn't always better. 

You also have no check-out time listed. 

 

You would benefit from looking at some other listings in your neighborhood that have good ratings and solid bookings, and mimic some things from their listings, adapted to your own.

Hi Emmanuel:

Everybody have already talked about the pictures, so I am not going to talk too much about it. I completely agree with the others that you should remove the dark pictures and the duplicate ones.

I would like to address something else. You have a very singular decoration taste and I respect that. I just suggest that you should remove some of the items in the place. I get the first impression of crowdedness, like there is not too much space and there is too much stuff. I would suggest that you take the dining table pictures again, this time with less dishes on the table. You can leave the chairs so people can figure out how many people can seat in that area, but don't give the impression that people are going to be uncomfortable eating due to so many dishes on the table.

One step further would be to change the comforters to just one light solid color. In that way there will be not so many contrasting designs. But, I don't want to invade your decoration ideas. This is just my opinion. Hope it helps!

@Martiza191 Thanx for the feedback and will retake pis at some point, perhaps showing the  "foldaway" ingenuity and interchangeability of the space despite it's limited size.  

 

Totes seeing it about the pics - I am more prose than photogs, but appreciate that lots don't read isht these days, so evoking the vibe visually is highly serious..

 

Having had to refurb and rebuild myself in entirety after the place got smashed to bits by tenants and the whole project dragging on and out interminably, it did get to the stage where I just had to launch and get both rid and out there.  But now with some of my other property issues also dealt with, I will be in a better position to take time, revisit and act upon all of y'all's advisories.

 

Great chat chain and good to see it provoked so many responses, advice and input from so many - Thanx all.

 

Thinking on it, it will be interesting to see and essentially test whether my few sots through December fill in if I manage to implement as many of all y'all's ideas as possible.

Very nice place Emmanuel.  I would suggest either hiring a professional photographer or taking pics with better lighting and angles.  I think it also might help to have a more coherent theme of your place and have bed coverings, shower curtains and artwork that create more a consistent vibe.  

 

I like the living room pics and decor a lot.  It is difficult to see the workspace area.  I'd take pictures further back. Also, I would show more kitchen and other amenities that you provide.

Thanx for the tips.

 

Will consider changing the shower curtains when back - however "stling" as much as it is, is eclectic and quirky although the colour scheme is Turkish Blue, and Orange, with White, Wood and shots of Black thoughout - Not as garrish as it sounds , I promise you.

 

 

Don't think the flat lends itself to that boring white and grey monochrome banality that mainly pervades SA Listings - and the property is Victorian small, but the idea about taking pics further back and showing more will be taken into account and actioned at first opportunity..

Very cute place Emmanuel!  I was wondering where the extra two guests would  sleep since you show two double beds, but your listing says it can sleep six guests.  I would suggest that be explained a little better.  I agree with the other suggestions about showing less on the tables and solid color bedding on the bed pictures.

Hi @Marianne  The Sofa serves as an additional bed.

 

I will seek take some additional pics when the place is next available and hopefully before I jet off early Dec..

Great to maximise your guest numbers - in my experience this increases your booking rate & income. Friend groups and families are often looking for places to stay together. It could be a strong point of difference for you in your region’s listings. 

 

Is your pricing a set rate regardless of how many people? I tested it and there didn’t seem to be an option. If it was me, I would make it a set price for up to 4 people (ie. your regular listing price) but then add an ‘additional guest’ charge if there are 5 or 6. This means you can make the base price a little lower to be competitive - or earn extra money by making it more expensive for larger groups. It will help cover extra laundry and cleaning costs when you have maximum people, and means you won’t have to make the fold down bed if there’s only 2-4 guests. 

I would change your “hero shot” - the first impression seen by potential guests - and also the only image seen when scrolling through multiple listings. As a traveller from somewhere else, I immediately loved the external photo of the building - it shows the quirky style of the building and the neighbourhood vibe. It’s your strong point of difference. (And has natural light!)

I too advise removing duplicate photos and choosing or editing to have lighter images. Also would remove any taken on an angle - arty but doesn’t help sell the space! Check other listings you love for ideas on why their photos look great.

Good description in ‘About this Space’  - you just have a small spelling mistake in last paragraph (decorated).

Taking ALL your advices on board and will begin actioning those I can asap.

Defo a bit of work and a lot of learning to be done and I know all tips will come in handy and be put into play eventually.

 

 

Your place looks fab and HUGE compared to our tiny old Victorian places, but nonetheless the advice is probably still the same for all.
