I'm setting up a 2nd guest room which is large enough for a king bed, however since it's shared housing i would be accepting single guest only. I'm wondering what size bed may be preferred by a single guest. A smaller bed would give me room to have other options in the room such as a sitting room and a kitchenette.

If it is for a single guest room I would go with the queen bed. If the room is big enough for a king, a double bed will look very small in that room. In my experience a room that seems that it doesn't have enough furniture in it is not comfortable.
As per my experience with guests, I suggest to to put a single bed.
So guests can have more space in the room.
Also the amenities you mentioned will be more practical than doubling the bed size
Hello there!
I guess queen size will be just perfect
keep some room for a workstation and maybe recliner near to the T.V or in case you choose to have the T.V at the workstation setup (to connect the laptop to a bigger screen while working) a recliner will be a nice addition near the balcony or window view 🙂
Hello @Omar1280!
Amazing feedback that you shared with us! How did you find out this was the best option? Do you have it set up this way in your listing?👀
Best regards,
Alex
Hi Kathleane,
a single bed will be more practical in my opinion as you're planning to use the rest of the space for other amenities. i hope this helps. Good luck 🙂

I think if you can put in the extra amenities such as a kitchen/sitting room I would chose a smaller bed 👍
@Kathleane0 I honestly would consider a fall. Are a Queen? A queen would be the largest, and I'd even do a single if it looked aesthetically pleasing
@Kathleane0 If your guests tend to spend more time outside - it makes sense to use a bigger bed, otherwise saving some space would work better.
Hi @Kathleane0 , sorry I'm going to chime in on this one... I would definitely avoid a twin bed. They're small and child-like. Offering a twin will definitely narrow down your clientele. Always do a queen if you can suffice it because it gives a more lux adult feel. Plus if you have family or friends visiting, it will come in handy. I do like the addition of a chair in the room but would avoid recliners as most are bulky, unless you can accommodate one that looks aesthetically pleasing and not oversized. If the space can accommodate a desk, that's great! Mount the tv, it gives a clean look vs. legs on a dresser.
A queen bed should be there, as it can be set up nicely with so room for movement.
