What makes your listing family-friendly?

Hello hosts! 👋

As hosts, we know how important it is to provide a comfortable and welcoming space for families travelling with children.

So, here's my question to all of you: What are some of the things you do or amenities you offer to make your Airbnb listing family-friendly?

Do you have a cosy play area for kids, a well-stocked kitchen with child-friendly utensils, or perhaps a selection of board games and toys for little ones to enjoy? Maybe you have a spacious backyard where kids can run around and have fun.

Comment below and let us know what makes your Airbnb listing family-friendly. Share your unique ideas, personal stories, and any challenges you may have faced.

Can't wait to hear your amazing suggestions and stories. 😊

Hi @Christopher1560 😊

These are great features for your property!

Are you considering adding more toys that parents can participate in too?

Warm regards🌻,

Hi everybody!

For families traveling with children, we provide children's dishes, a high chair, a crib for babies with bed linen.
We have a cozy small play area for children: with toys, board games, there are toys for babies, a drawing set, puzzles, books. Unfortunately, we do not have a spacious backyard where children can run and have fun, but there is a separate room with table tennis.

Greetings from Harz/Germany

Hi @Nadezda22 😊

Thank you for sharing this here!

This is a wonderful space for families with children.

How do your guests usually feel about the play area and table tennis room?

Warm regards🌻,

Hi Rebecca,

As a Super-host Retired lady living alone in a Conservation cottage in North West London, I like to think that I provide a unique experience for my guests.

I provide practically FULL BOARD for my single ladies, giving them a packed lunch if they are out all day, a cooked breakfast beforehand, if they want it, plus sharing an Evening meal with me.  This way, I get to know my guests better and and we both share cultural experiences, which they would not get in a hotel.

I also take them out in my car to local places of interest, which they would not normally know about, sometimes taking a picnic for both of us, which they all seem to appreciate.  Hampstead and Rickmansworth Aquadrome are two such places.

I have also been know to take two of my guests to the A and E of my local hospital when they were not well, again, which was well appreciated.

I also take them to my local supermarkets so that they can choose their meals.  As most of my guests are now Japanese or Chinese, they also in turn cook delicious ethnic meals for me.

Because they are so happy in my little cottage with a vibrant local community, they often extend their stay for quite a long time.

All this is reflected in their 5-star Reviews, of course.

Regards,

Jean Plant

Hello, @Jean7388! It’s great to see how much effort you put into hosting. Congratulations!

Do you always welcome your guests, or do you have a team that supports you with certain activities?

Hi @Paula, I always welcome my guests personally, either meeting them at my local tube station, or at home.  Then, they have a key to my house.  I have a list of House information in their room but am usually on site to help with any problems.  Texting seems to be "de rigueur" now anyway, which is very helpful if they are up in their room and need help with anything.

I am very flexible also with my guests as sometimes they like an early breakfast or a late one, and always find out beforehand what they like to eat.  I try to vary all meals I include so they get a good variety of English cuisine, with lots of fruit and vegs.  I even take them shopping with me sometimes so they can choose stuff.  This way, no food is wasted and it is easier for me then to look after them properly during their stay with me.

My present guest is a charming Japanese girl, who is looking for work with her two year visa, and she, like the Chinese, eat everything, so makes it so easy for me.  Their manners and politeness are much to be applauded., so rare in these days.

Of course, in the past, I have had difficult guests, but, usually, I try to appease them and make their life with me as comfortable as possible.  No point living  in close proximity with a guest who is not happy!

Cheers, Jean.

Hey Rebecca,

My house has lots of games, several kid friendly interactive ones (no video games!). There are a couple kid-friendly outdoor games (ladder ball, cornhole) that are stored in the outdoor shed.

I have a selection of Kid's DVD movies, several Stuffies they can play with, and the house is on a fully fenced acre of yard they can run freely in. There is one bed that is a platform bed that is a little lower to the ground than the Queen sized beds. I also have outlet covers in all the outlets and doorknob covers available.  I have a grate to cover the wood stove if needed, as well as a non-slip bathmat, kids' bubble bath and a bath stopper for bath time. There is also a futon chair in the living room that many a kiddo has slept on!

This is great, @Jan13555! Congratulations on offering so many wonderful amenities to your guests. Have you offered all of this since the beginning, or have you been adding things based on guest feedback? 😎

Thank you Paula! I have offered most of those items since the beginning.  I do collect and add things as I see fit.  For example, the grate to cover the wood stove wasn't there in the beginning, but I found one at a local Thrift store and thought it was a good idea.  Several guests have been happy to use it, including the guests who will be there this coming weekend. --Jan

We have a pack n play, high chair, toy box with toys and books, board games and cards, a wall painted as a chalkboard with chalk, kids plates cups and utensils, a large yard to play, cute kid hooded towels and wash clothes.

Hello,

I provide a variety of entertainment options, including board games, books and a smart TV. One of the properties even has a PlayStation and Gameboy for video game enthusiasts. Another features a garden with toys like balls and racquets for outdoor fun. To make exploring the city easier, I also provide brochures with family-friendly activities and attractions around London.
