We have two Yale locks for our one Airbnb. Is there a way to have both be coordinated together to act as 2 locks in 1 because they are for the same Airbnb? We need Yale or Airbnb to resolve this issue because it’s not clear to guest which access code is for which door because they are getting two access codes but no clear descriptors for which door because the message is the same for two access codes.
The Airbnb integration can be left alone as is because it works.
I believe it should fall under Yale to figure out how to coordinate 2 locks as they both access the same Airbnb. Our rental has 2 Yale locks, front entrance and back entrance where we frequently have people parking in the back driveway or people traveling by foot coming in the front door.
Does that make sense?
If we are wrong, then can you please please work with Airbnb to figure out how to do this if one Airbnb have 2 Yale locks so we can provide guest a universal access code regardless of how many Yale locks?
Hi @Chi-Ming0 , this is a pretty unique question I've seen in the Community related to smart locks.
Have you reached out to either Airbnb Customer Support or Yale smart lock support to check if the integration works as you suggested above to provide a universal access code to guests?
Thank you for reaching out to me!
I have reached out to the Airbnb Customer Support team regarding the integration with the Yale smart lock. Unfortunately, they informed me that they don’t currently have the capability to provide a universal access code for guests.
They acknowledged my concerns and assured me that my feedback is documented under case ID A27585985. They also mentioned, “But don't worry as I am working on passing my report regarding this and will make sure that the internal team will review it. I will make sure to convince them regarding this to make all our Hosts satisfied by using Airbnb.”
Thanks again!
Best,
Chi
Until you can figure out the answer, maybe only one lock automated either front or back door, You decide. The second lock you probably have the ability to set Once a formal check in using the generated lock code. Guest messages you a code, usually easier to remember because we all have pins we know. You set the other door just the way it is and since you are only talking about walking around the house.
Thank you for your response!
I wanted to let you know that I was able to create the same key code manually for both the front and back door locks via the Yale app only. I copied and sent the same key code to the Airbnb guest, which I found quite annoying.
However, the Airbnb Yale integration currently only supports one door lock, which is why I suggested adding a second door lock to the same listing.
Having a universal key code for both doors would greatly simplify the check-in process for guests.I appreciate your assistance in this matter!
Best regards,
Chi
