"Share more about your backyard" and on and on ad nauseum

"Private or public, fully fenced or not fully fenced."   It's too reductionist too give just two irrelevant choices, fenced or not fenced.  It's surrounded by twelve acres of woods and fields.  I've indicated it's private, but I won't answer the question about fencing, so this question keeps coming back.

"Does your place have beach access?"  No.  But if I say that, will guests think there's no place to go swimming?  My property is not listed as "waterfront," but I let guests know where all the nearby beaches are.

"Tell us more about your dryer access."  Really?  It's literally right inside the laundry room.  It's clearly stated elsewhere that it is not shared or locked.  What other challenges do you think guests face around finding and using the dryer?

Can we have an option where we don't have to answer every one of these questions?  I X them out, but if I haven't checked off all the irrelevant choices, they come back, along with the note about hosting longer stays.  I allow people to inquire about longer stays and they do.  But in reality I don't want to come up on a search for longer stays.  So once I've cleared that off the screen, don't let it come back.  It's just one more way my time is wasted.

The view categories stump me. Our view is quite incredible, about 25 miles west to the coast for about 180 degrees, and another 25 to the east to gorgeous mountains. It goes on forever, so it is both distant (the sun setting into the ocean) and in your face(the hummingbirds). I have a private vineyard, landscaped gardens, wilderness, dark sky at night, and no lights. We are off grid completely and our house is Frank Lloyd School, an architectural masterpiece. Where do we deal with all that? Not yet. I'm sure all the possible categories could occupy many pages of boxes to check.

OMG, STOP IT!! just had a peek, your place is amazing. left you a ♥️

on a clear day you can see down to the coast, but it's very, very distant. I don't mention it. People come here for the countryside and wineries, not the beach. It seems misleading to suggest we are even close to the beach, when it's 1hr away.

That’s the universe giving you a hint to decline. Airbnb has great guests and then there are the …cough cough “better suited to a hotel with 24-7 concierge.” 😂

@Ann72  Here, here! There is a constant 18 things in my "Opportunities" list that I will never, ever, do. I just ignore it, but yes, it would be great if it would all go away.

The one I really love is the urging for me to add "Heat". I live in the tropics. I've been tempted to check it off, as it doesn't specify what type of heat, and the heat here comes from the sun 🙂  And I can't imagine any of my guests complaining that the listing was inaccurate or demanding a refund for a "missing amenity" because they didn't find a heater.

@Ann72 I have complained about "Is your pool shared" with a yes/no option. It still floats to the top of my screen at times. And I have no pool.

Seems like ABB should just allow videos and then they would not have to ask all these inane questions. Guests typically don't read the info anyway but they do seem to love images.

@Laura2592  Ha!  And how about just going with the amenities we've already checked?  For the longest time they asked if my place had an oven.

@Ann72 @Ann72 @Sarah977

I've included photos of the heater in my photos collection, after a guest asked if there was any heat here. Yes, they seem to love images, and it is doubtful that they read the info. I also show photos of the house with all kinds of snow - with us living here full time, it would make sense that we have some way of keeping warm. Some of my inquiries have shown that folks fall in love with the first few photos and skip the important details. Being here full time has been the trick - no disasters, and lots of laughter!

@Kitty-and-Creek0  So maybe I should take a photo of the sun and caption it "Heat"? 🙂

@Sarah977 Yes! Do it! And have a photo of someone basking in it.

@Sarah977 I like the photo of the sun. I have an issue with heater because we have reverse cycle airconditining which has both heat and cooling. So I have ticked the box for heater and I know that someone is going to question me about this.

Even if you can answer the question, you keep getting asked over and over again.

I don't know how many times I've been prompted to answer whether my listings have an outdoor space. Yes, and yes!!! How many times?????!!!1

It's infuriating.

@Huma0  It is really maddening especially because we have all spent time carefully ticking off the necessary boxes!

Also - there have been many many complaints about the filters.  They don’t seem to narrow choices down the way guests want them to.  If the filters were highly effective, I might consider getting more granular, but as they’re not, it’s a pointless exercise.
