Airbnb Services

Where are services available and what are the plans to offer services around the world?

It’s great to hear many of you asking about plans to expand Airbnb Services. Services are available across some of our most visited and loved destinations. Guests can book services in 260 cities in more than 30 countries, including the US, Canada, France, Italy, Spain, the UK, Australia, and Mexico. We’re working hard to add even more services to additional locations. Browse Airbnb to see what’s offered near you. And if you know someone who could host a great service, you can earn cash rewards for referring new service hosts.

 

Are there plans to expand services to include listing-specific offerings provided by the host, like airport transfers, mid-stay cleanings, or personal grocery shopping? 

We launched Airbnb Services with some of the most sought-after categories for guests when traveling, according to our consumer research, and we’re just getting started. The first 10 categories are chefs, photography, massage, spa treatments, personal training, hair, makeup, nails, prepared meals, and catering. As we expand services, we’ll continue listening to our host and guest communities about what might be most useful. Stay tuned for more!

What if my home insurance doesn’t cover situations at my home that result from a service? 

That’s a common question. It’s good to know that all service hosts are required to maintain liability insurance appropriate for their business while providing a service. They’re also covered by Airbnb’s Experiences & Services liability insurance, which is part of AirCover for Hosts. This is similar to how home hosts are covered by host liability insurance through AirCover for Hosts. When a service takes place in your home, Experiences & Services liability insurance applies if the service host is responsible for damaging your home or belongings. 

 

You can decide to not allow services in your home based on your preferences or any specific restrictions that may apply to your property or building. If there are certain services you prefer not to allow, you can contact Airbnb Support to have your house rules updated.

 

I’d also like to highlight that services are vetted for quality, including relevant experience in their field. We take into account criteria like knowledge, education, reputation, and more. Service hosts have an average of 10 years of experience and have completed Airbnb’s identity verification process. We evaluate service hosts and their listings to make sure they meet our standards. How is Airbnb going to protect home hosts from negative reviews if guests aren’t happy with a service? 


You should feel comfortable welcoming guests without worrying about the possibility of an unrelated review. Guests review services separately from their stay with you. They’re prompted to review a service as soon as it ends. Their review doesn’t affect the rating or ranking of your home. If a guest left you a review that’s focused solely on the service, you can ask us to remove it. A review must be relevant to a stay.

Is there a simple way for us to opt out without having to go through Airbnb Support? 

We’re actively sharing this feedback with our product teams, and we’ll keep our community updated if there are any changes to the process. For now, if there are specific services you’d rather not allow, contact Airbnb Support. You’ll be connected with an agent, and they’ll update your house rules to match your preference. You don’t need to take any additional steps. You can choose not to offer services or specific service categories. Guests can still book any service that doesn’t take place in your home, like prepared meals or a photo session in a public space. Whether you allow services does not impact your listing’s search ranking. 

 

Will the platform recognize when certain services aren’t suitable for a listing, or will hosts need to contact Airbnb Support to ask to opt out of those specific services?

You can decide to not allow services in your home based on your preferences or any specific restrictions that may apply to your property or building. If there are certain services that aren’t suitable for your home, you should contact Airbnb Support to specify any services you don’t allow. Guests will see if you don’t allow services when they look at your house rules. If they try to book one in your home, they’re prompted to choose another location. Guests can still book any service that doesn’t take place in your home, like prepared meals or a photo session in a public space. Services can take place in a home, the service host’s business, or a public space. Guests book services with a service host and separate from their stay with you. Allowing a service in your home is one way to show guests you’re invested in making their stay even more special.

Can experiences be hosted in collaboration with other hosts or third parties?

Hosting an experience is a great way to share your local knowledge and help guests explore your city. You must be the primary host or listed as a co-host to host an experience.  

Will hosts be able to give feedback on the guests who join the experiences?

Experience hosts don’t leave reviews for guests. You can always post a public response to a review left by a guest. That’s an opportunity to share more context or provide your perspective.

Que se passe-t-il si mon assurance habitation ne couvre pas les situations qui surviennent dans mon logement à la suite d'un service ?

C'est une question qui revient souvent. Il est bon de savoir que tous les hôtes proposant des services sont tenus de souscrire une assurance responsabilité civile adaptée à leur activité. De plus, ils sont couverts par l'Assurance responsabilité civile expériences et services d'Airbnb, comprise dans AirCover pour les hôtes. Cette couverture est similaire à celle de l'Assurance responsabilité civile des hôtes dans le cadre d'AirCover pour les hôtes de logements. Lorsqu'un service a lieu dans votre logement, l'Assurance responsabilité civile expériences et services s'applique si l'hôte du service est responsable de dommages causés à votre logement ou à vos biens.

Expériences Airbnb

 

Les expériences peuvent-elles être organisées en collaboration avec d'autres hôtes ou des tiers ?

Estamos remitiendo estos comentarios a nuestros equipos de producto y os iremos informando si hay algún cambio en el proceso. Por ahora, si hay servicios específicos que preferís no permitir, tendréis que contactar con el equipo de Atención al Cliente de Airbnb. Un agente se encargará de actualizar vuestras normas de la casa para que se ajusten a vuestras preferencias; vosotros no tendréis que hacer nada más. Gasten kunnen services boeken in 260 steden in meer dan 30 landen, waaronder de Verenigde Staten, Canada, Frankrijk, Italië, Spanje, het Verenigd Koninkrijk, Australië en Mexico. Wat als mijn inboedel-/opstalverzekering niet voldoende dekking heeft voor eventuele incidenten als gevolg van services?

Dat is een veelgestelde vraag. Vergeet niet dat alle servicehosts een aansprakelijkheidsverzekering moeten hebben die aansluit bij de service die ze aanbieden. Ze zijn ook gedekt door de Aansprakelijkheidsverzekering voor activiteiten en services van Airbnb die deel uitmaakt van AirCover voor hosts. Dit is vergelijkbaar met hoe hosts van woningen gedekt zijn door de Aansprakelijkheidsverzekering voor hosts (ook onderdeel van AirCover voor hosts). Hoe beschermt Airbnb hosts van woningen tegen negatieve recensies als gasten niet tevreden zijn over een service? 


Hosts moeten zich op hun gemak voelen als ze gasten verwelkomen zonder zich zorgen te maken over mogelijke vergeldingsrecensies. Gasten beoordelen de services los van hun verblijf bij jou. Ze kunnen een service beoordelen zodra die is afgelopen. De recensie heeft geen invloed op de beoordeling of positie van je woning. Als een gast een recensie voor je heeft achtergelaten die alleen over de service gaat, kun je ons vragen om deze te verwijderen. Een recensie moet relevant zijn voor een verblijf.

Kunnen we ons eenvoudig afmelden voor services zonder dat we daarvoor contact moeten opnemen met Airbnb Support?

We delen deze feedback met onze productteams en laten het onze community weten als de werkwijze verandert. Op dit moment moet je contact opnemen met Airbnb Support als je bepaalde services niet wilt toestaan. Een Airbnb-expert werkt dan je huisregels dienovereenkomstig bij. Je hoeft verder niets te doen. Je kunt bepaalde servicecategorieën uitsluiten of helemaal geen services toestaan. Gasten kunnen nog wel services boeken die niet in je woning plaatsvinden, zoals kant-en-klare maaltijden of een fotosessie in een openbare ruimte. Of je services toestaat, heeft geen invloed op de positie van je advertentie in de zoekresultaten. 

 

Weet het platform wanneer bepaalde services niet bij een accommodatie passen of moeten hosts contact opnemen met Airbnb Support om zich af te melden voor die specifieke services?

Kunnen activiteiten worden georganiseerd in samenwerking met andere hosts of derden?

Met een activiteit kun je jouw kennis over de regio delen en gasten je stad laten ontdekken. Je moet de hoofdhost zijn of als co‑host vermeld staan om een activiteit te mogen organiseren. 

Kunnen hosts feedback geven over de gasten die deelnemen aan de activiteiten?

Hosts van activiteiten kunnen geen recensies over gasten achterlaten. Je kunt altijd openbaar reageren op een recensie van een gast. Daarin kun je meer context geven of jouw kant van het verhaal vertellen.

Dear Christy,

thank you for sharing with us these informations about "services".

 

But there are two main points that you (Airbnb) don't consider:

 

1) All the services you spoke about (except for home delivery food) are illegal in Italy for private hosts. Nothing more to add.

You didn't have the right to connect services to our homes without our permissions, and - most of all - it's not correct that we Italian hosts have to opt-out for something we didn't choose. And we didn't choose because our laws don't allow us to do.

 

2) it's not realistic what you say about so-called quoted professional services linked to our homes. Many of them (as we checked out in these past days) are offered by private hosts without any license, or simply non-professional trainers, chefs, etc.

 

These Release causes many damages in Italy.

We now are suffering from an open attack from the powerful Hotel Association which claims that we are abusing possibilities that are only hotel-related and that we are stealing work from those who have the license to do so.

 

Why don't you consider the laws of the Countries where you are placed in? Why don't you think about this?

 

In Italy Airbnb is already a metaphor for the discomfort created by those who have abused this opportunity, now it is even becoming the vector and the cause of all our guilts, offered on a silver platter, to our detractors.

 

Italian hosts who do not intend to remove the services from their accommodations, do so only because they know that they will disappear from the selections and are afraid of not working anymore.

But they know that they are risking a lot, even the closure of their facilities.

 

This Summer Release risks decreeing the end of Airbnb in Italy.

Think about it, please.

Hola @Cristiana19 , Airbnb behaves like a globalized company, without caring about the laws in different countries.

In the building where my apartment is located, there ara four tourist apartments: three have already left Airbnb and now work only with Booking.
I'm the last one still on Airbnb, but I really think this will be my last year.
I'm honestly fed up — every time one of these ****** “Releases” comes out, things just get worse.

I'm totally found of Expériences!

I had the chance, with 9 other French Community Leaders to discover the Experience "diner with a Chief" last week in Paris.

We taken the chance ti leet the Airbnb American and French Direction of Airbnb and interacted all together!!!

All i can say is go! Don't hesitate, i warmly recommend you duch an experience.

Airbnb's new experiences are so special, it can change your stay in a wonderful moment.

You are still not adressing the fact that one need to opt out. That approach is illegal in several countries including mine.

My home is my property and @Airbnb simply can't decide that some stranger providing some kind of service automatically is allowed to enter my home.

I will not opt out. Because I have not given anyone the right to make decisions about my home. Let alone entering it without my consent.

You need to make it optional to opt in. Until then you're not in compliance with legislation.

 

Also thousands of guests have no idea about this happening where Airbnb is granting themselves access to their homes. This will cause guests and service providers to end up facing the police for trespassing. This could really end up fatal!

I agree about giving us the option to opt in vs opting out. I too believe that it needs to be turned around so that hosts can more easily select what they want or do not want IF it regards something in my home. If guests are choosing experiences outside my home and in some public place then I do not see that as any of my business. I am concerned about guests bringing someone else into my home. I do not like that.

 

Later in the year after we move we may consider hiring our own professional chef perhaps for certain meals or certain days of the week but I do not want guests hiring chefs and bringing them in my kitchen.

 

Opting in or out of anything should be accessible to hosts through the Airbnb website. Making hosts phone and have to get into great detail over all of this seems outrageous. Perhaps I do not understand something about all of this.

Not only ABB is not in compliance with legislation, they are not in compliance with their own terms of service:
"TOS 4.3: Airbnb does not direct or control your Host Service, and you understand that you have complete discretion whether and when to provide Host Services, and at what price and on what terms to offer them."
That means AirBNB does not have the right to impose something we must opt out of.

Just like in Italy, hosts in Croatia must be licensed and registered. The license grants us the right to provide accommodation  for a specific number of guests, but not other services. Additionally, the stay of all our guests must be registered with the police, and people who are not registered are not allowed to stay in the apartments.

Furthermore, to continue short-term renting within a few years, we must obtain consent from all neighbors. It is clear that such consent will not be granted if other services beyond our control are offered in our apartments. All the hosts I know are horrified by the idea that ABB would enable and encourage guests to order prostitutes, strippers, chefs, DJs, or who knows what “services” to our apartments.

Whether this will be allowed or not should be voluntary and on an opt-in basis.

Since April 2025 in Spain, a new regulation has come into effect: the homeowners' association must vote to authorize tourist rentals, and at least 3/5 of the property owners must agree.

If this majority is not reached, tourist rentals are banned in the building, and owners are obliged to stop this activity.

There is currently a real battle in Spain between neighborhood associations, the government, and tourist apartments.
Tensions are high, and the new  Airbnb "services" being introduced in this sector are unlikely to improve the situation.

 

"The Ministry of Consumer Affairs announced this Monday 16 May  that it has ordered the removal of more than 65,000 illegal tourist apartment listings from the Airbnb platform. The department, headed by Pablo Bustinduy, has sent three resolutions to the company after detecting tens of thousands of listings that violate "various regulations regarding tourist accommodations."

In addition to these actions, the Ministry has an open sanctioning procedure against Airbnb, after the platform refused to remove thousands of tourist rental properties without licenses or with fake licenses — a refusal that the Ministry considers "could cause harm or pose risks to the interests of consumers and users on a widespread scale."

I agree with you - exactly the same regulations have come into force in France this year,  Airbnb's second largest market where local residents can vote against those using their secondary homes as short term lets in apartment blocks.  

 

I agree with Adriano that Airbnb  should be concentrating on using AI to verify that listings are in compliance with all the new legislation that is being introduced everywhere now and close down those that are acting completely illegally because they haven't applied for the necessary permits or declared their earnings to the tax office.   It's unfair competition for law abiding hosts and just creates even more Airbnb bashing from the locals and from governments the world over. 

Any "services" taking place on the premises MUST have the authorisation of the host first - it can't simply be imposed on us for all the legal and insurance reasons explained by other hosts.  

 

Air Cover is a hit and miss affair as it is without involving a third party element when it will be impossible for hosts to prove who burnt what, who stole what from the kitchen/bedrooms etc and it will only result in a bad review for the host with no chance of having it removed because the retaliatory review process is just not working and Airbnb's own terms for their removal are not being taken into account by AI.

 

The only one who gains anything from these extra services are Airbnb.💵💲

Data mining is fundamentally flawed process because it's not factoring into account individual own Tax status, nor one would reasonably assume knowledge behind how often a person actually has someone staying in their property amongst other factors.

 

Much of the Academic research these days fails to do cross referencing with historic Town Planning laws or so much as applying inherent rights enshrined in legislation.

 

Mass migration is a major factor in many countries for accommodation problems, not Airbnb.

 

What is the level of monies required in Spain for a person to have on a Tourist or Working Visa for a year?

When was that last increased?

 

What steps has the Spanish Government undertaken to ensure a natural attrition rate with migration to ensure an acceptable level of people there at any time?

New Zealand's used to sit around 4000 a year and then went belly up to close to 100,000 which is not even adhering to basic economics, nor looking at why land is never to be built on and has traditionally been used for purposes that it has, namely food production.

 

In New Zealand the Tourist / Working holiday/ Student Visa rate of monies required has been stuck at $4,200 for over 20 years, which is insufficient to live off, so someone in Governance isn't doing their jobs because if they were that amount should have and would have been adjusted yearly.

The failure also of travelers to undertake due diligence as to the cost of living in other countries has also had an impact resulting in overcrowding 

and decline in quality of life for locals.
