Community Center navigation upgrade

Hi hosts, 

 

We are excited to share that we have updated the Community Center to enhance the site's navigation. 

 

What’s changing?

We have introduced a new navigation bar on the left side of the Community Center – this new system makes it easier to navigate between topics.

 

What does the new navigation feature?

  • All your favourite topics are now nested under the navigation menu.
  • The menu persists across the site, making it easy to navigate back and forth between topics and threads. 
  • The menu options open and collapse depending on your preference.

What sections are included in the navigation?

We have expanded the structure by adding new sections with their corresponding boards for seamless navigation. The new sections include the following:

 

Most Popular: displays top discussions across all community topics right on the homepage carousel. 

 

Homes: discussion boards related to hosting accommodations.

  • Ask about your listing
  • Advice on your space
  • Support with your bookings 
  • Help with your business 
  • Community Guides
  • Host Circle 
  • Community Cafe 

Airbnb: updates and resources from Airbnb

  • Airbnb updates
  • Community Guidelines 
  • Resource Center
  • Help Center 
  • Local Host Clubs

A few extra features we added

When you’re on a specific topic or area, the relevant menu now gets highlighted as seen in the GIF below:

We’ve also added a breadcrumb trail, visible at the top of each page. Breadcrumbs help you trace your path across the site and easily keep track of where you are on the website.

I think the new Airbnb Community layout is incredibly user-friendly and intuitive! 😍 With the topics clearly listed on the left side of the screen, it’s easier than ever to find exactly what I'm looking for or jump into conversations that matter to ME.

Posting and participating are seamless, which makes it super simple for hosts, like me,  to stay engaged, and that means more helpful insights, support, and great feedback from our fellow hosts.

It's such a smart design that can make it easier to bring the community together! 🙌

@Quincy @Bhumika @Emilie @Airbnb @Stephanie and all Community Centre members, who and how many were consulted and included for feedback to these pending and then changes who may not have 2020 Eyesight vision?

 

Perfect to have a left hand column for those with strong Left hand vision however but not so great unfortunately, and perhaps an oversight this change has occurred without factoring into account those who may perhaps already be disadvantaged in whatever manner.

 

Perhaps we would all benefit from walking in others shoes, including those who may be marginalized in whatever way - as in a visual impairment or a disability when we do things taken for granted.

 

Sometimes in life we all need to think of how others who may live in a different world to our own may feel when designing and changing and navigating Websites.

Where have the emojis gone?? It was a way to make things a little lighter here and avoided misinterpretations in tone I felt.  Please bring them back!

Maybe it's a browser issue?

@Shelley159 Dead jealous!  Tried using Chrome and Safari to connect to the CC and same issue.  Have posted on the Francophone post to see if it's only me or not!

Hi @Joelle43 , did you hear back from the French CC if anyone else is facing the same issue with emojis? 

 

I checked with the team and it looks to be working as normal. 

 

I know you already cleared cached, however, can you also check if your browser is updated to the latest version?
