Know someone who’d be a great host? Starting today, you can earn rewards for referring hosts of experiences as well as homes.
It’s one of several updates we’re making to the referrals program, including:
Refer a host today and start earning. We’ll send your reward directly to your account about 14 days after an eligible host you’ve referred completes a qualifying booking.
* Referral rewards are available only in eligible locations and subject to the Host Referral Offer and Program Terms. Reward amounts vary, and this offer is valid through May 12, 2025. The 180-day period begins when a host starts a new listing using your referral link. Listings started using your referral link before March 17, 2025, are subject to the terms in place when those referrals were made.
How do you know how much you will receive? At the moment, I just see a range. It would be good to know upfront how much for each size of property.
Hi @Matt7224,
Thank you for your feedback!
As the referral program has evolved and is now based on the listing location and size, this amount range is shown to display the range of potential reward earnings. A final amount will be shown once a qualifying reservation has been completed.

When I bring a new referral (host who has never hosted before) into airbnb using our referral link, the amount of work we do to coach a new host, assist them with setting up the listing, connecting them with cleaners, maintenance persons, assisting with photography, etc. we counted on the amount that was a fixed amount for spending days/weeks with a new host. If this amount isn't going to be divulged to us until after the first booking occurs, I doubt we will continue referring new hosts. Or we will have to charge the hosts ourselves for all of the work we do and it's no longer a win win situation as it was in the past where we knew what we would earn and were willing to assist new hosts at no cost to them so they are really knowledgeable on how to be the best hosts, etc. I suppose that we'll have to charge new hosts the entire amount that we would normally get from Airbnb and I have a feeling that many hosts won't want to pay and will just stumble through things vs. receiving the help we provide so they start out far better than hosts who don't seek out help. Very disappointed with the new policy and the direction airbnb is headed.
Could not agree more.
I spent hours taking photos of a listing, coaching the new host and assisting to set up their new listing. As it stands the listing isn't in an *eligible location*, so as I understand it, I will get nothing for my time, fuel, and experience.
Very disappointed - especially given the referral bonus I would have received is less than airbnb make from an average booking at my listing.
Agree with all of you. We are not going to spent time and not get rewarded for it and for reasons like "eligible location" If location is not good enough why is listing accepted on the site. I think the decision was not well thought through by Airbnb
Great point Rozzi - It would eb good to know up front if the Experience (and I assume now Service) was in an eligible area - but having said that - I thought we did get notice up front - will go back and check.
