AirBnB and VRBO synced calendars.

Hi fellow hosts,
Is anyone else also booking on VRBO with linked calendars? My VRBO calendar is automatically syncing with AirBnB in real time but my AirBnB calendar is not. For AirBnB I have to manually run a refresh from settings for the VRBO bookings to show. Is there something I missed in set up? Each calendar was imported into the other and looks right.

Also, what has your experience been with VRBO? We have had a very slow start with them.

@Jennifer1774   I list on both platforms, and I have never had an issue with the synchronization of the calendars.  If this is really a problem, I would suggest removing the current links, waiting 2-3 hours, and then re-establish the links.  That may solve your issue.

Verbo has a different clientele than Air.  Most of my guests from Verbo book far in advance and travel with their pets.  My calendar has to be open for at least 18 months on the site. Verbo will also move your listing around in a mysterious fashion, so you may not be seen by guests who don't go past the first page of listings or use the map incorrectly.  My bookings from Verbo can be really strong for a few weeks, then they drop way off, only to rebound several weeks later.  I have found that if I go into my listing and make changes, even small ones, I will get 1 or 2 bookings within a few hours.  It's a game.

Hi. I hope your issues have resolved themselves.

I have the same set up as you and am wondering what information you see on the Airbnb calendar when Vrbo books a stay. All I see in the Airbnb calendar is a dot when no information. If I hover over it, it say 'Vrbo booking' but no dates or other information. Is the same for you?

Thanks

@Mike112   you will not see guest information from VRBO on the AirBnB calendar and vice versa.  Only booked dates indicated by shading, dots or whatever the programmers have set.

I keep my own calendar and enter my booking information there.  It is a PITA, but I then have a calendar that I can share with my housekeeper AND if a client cancels and disappears off the OTA platform, I still have the pertinent data about the guest.

I think I have the same issue. I've linked my Vrbo listing to my Airbnb calendar and my Airbnb listing to my Vrbo calendar. When a booking occurs on Airbnb, the Vrbo calendar is automatically updated with that reservation and blocks availability to those dates. However, when a booking occurs on Vrbo, the Airbnb calendar either does not update, or takes a lot longer to update than I care to wait.

To get the Airbnb calendar to update, I have to manually hit the sync symbol on Airbnb. This defeats the purpose of syncing the calendar as I'm not going to be hovering over my keyboard to manually sync after a Vrbo booking to prevent a double-booking.

After one inadvertent double-booking already, I've turned off instant book on Airbnb and have to manually approve bookings on that platform to prevent further double booking. Not my preferred solution, but I'm paranoid about double bookings now. I think Airbnb has problems.

I've just pretty much started with this while vacation rental thing. And definitely having issues with the calendars syncing together.

Anybody figure out the fix for this yet?

@jennifer 1774 synch the calendars manually after you recieve a reservation . Other wise you risk double booking . Airbnb synch takes 24 hours . H

Im not sure who's fault it is, I am on both of them platforms my airbnb one is correct a few weeks ago the VRBO was showing I had no bookings when we are almost full.

All my bookings come from airbnb none from VRBO so maybe they got the hump,
