Has anyone had issues with not being able to find their property on the map with airbnb? Our location doesn't seem to be "sticking" and our property isn't booking at is normally has in the past. We are a super host with a lot of experience. Every 2 days, I have to call airbnb to have them update something on their end for us to see the property on the map show up again. I'm going to lose 10's of thousands of dollars if the issue persists.
Is anyone else having this issue?
Guess what...I just checked and now that you have lowered your price, you are showing up on page 3. I searched by dates and 10 guests. Looks like @Shelley159 was spot on re the price. Hope you start to get some more bookings soon.
It wasn't the price. This is the issue that keeps occurring over the past week. Even without touching pricing, it has populated on the map when we zoom in. Then, it disappears for 48 hours. then, It reappears on the map again for 24 hours. then, it disappears again for some time. Airbnb mentioned in a support message that my property "had been restored" and now it was visible... I'm anticipating it going off line again as it has done 3 different times over the past 7 days (independently of any pricing changes)
Thank you @Joan2709 and @Shelley159 for your continued support here. You're like detectives on these tech cases 🔍
@Andy4204 I look forward to hearing from you soon with some screenshots that I can share back with the team and we can see if we can get to the bottom of this 😊
Airbnb fixed something. This was the first 24 hours it was visible in a few days and we had 4 bookings. However, it still says 17 minutes to the beach instead of a 30 second walk. Also, our place doesn’t have a “verified location”. See a screen shot of the confusion the Airbnb marketed “17 minutes” from the beach. It is hurting one of our most marketable parts of our business.
I've been watching and I noticed the change as well. They also don't show all the listings clustered in one spot as they previously did. Well....seems one problem solved, but...
I did notice the 17min walk to Folly Beach callout and mentioned it in my previous post on page 1 of this thread:
Just something else I noticed...
Your listing says "30sec walk to beach" (I can see how close you are in the photos), but the Airbnb callout under amenities says 17min walk to Folly Beach? Something doesn't add up there?
I would also work with Airbnb to get this corrected. Use the screen shots of the messages from the guest. Can you clarify the name of the beach that is 30 secs walk from your place? Is it still Folly Beach or another name? Is the whole island considered Folly Beach?
This has been happening to other listings as well and is due to the Winter 2024 software release as part of the "enhanced" location callouts/changes to appeal to guests:
They added new callouts on the Listing page that are wreaking havoc for many Hosts. Some report the location callouts are mentioning attractions 40mins away that no one goes to as they booked the listing to go to the beach 5mins away.
Here are some other threads on this topic/issue:
Hi @Andy4204
If you want to, you can let us know next time you don't see it so we can also see what's going on.
I could be wrong, but I think the dropping-off-the-map issue may have been because your search ranking was very low and you were only occasionally rotated into the search results. I doubt Airbnb fixed something, I think your price drop fixed it. But please keep an eye on whether your listing stays visible - if it disappears again while ranking well, there's something we don't understand.
The distance to the beach is a common issue with many hosts posting the same. To me it looks like the map pinpoints each beach as a central dot and then measures the distance from there. Perhaps the idea is to show people the distance to the main swimming/life guarded area, but of course all beaches don't work that way (and accuracy will be an issue as it's hard to get that right for every beach in the world). Maybe there should rather be "distance to the ocean".
