Hey!!!
I just updated my airbnb and created a cocktail bar. I was going to ask the guests prior to arriving what their favorite alcohol was so they can create their own cocktail. Based on their response I was going to leave one of those small shot bottles you buy from the liquor store, the little ones with just one shot in them. Or a bottle of red or white wine. Im obviously not going to be selling this to the guests. What are your thoughts? I can't find my guests age on their profile. Should I ask them their age first? Im in California
@Josh1969 In the UK even giving a bottle of alcohol requires the host to have a licence to sell alcohol. With litigation in the USA I would suggest providing alcohol is not the smartest idea no matter what the law is.
@Josh1969 I strongly suggest NOT doing this! If you want to offer little niceties, a vase of fresh flowers or a bowl of fresh fruit is a wonderful idea.
Such a nice thought, but imho not a wise idea. California is one of the more litigious places, and risks abound in the hospitality business. Imho, you might check with your insurance agent to make sure you have adequate business liability for any and all risks. In our case, here in wine country, if our guests wish to indulge in alcohol, they bring their own, what brand/flavor they prefer. With current strong trends to sobriety here, especially among youth, plus cultural differences in our diverse state, leaving alcohol could cause offense to many of our guests, most of whom do not indulge.
We leave fresh fruit for our guests, often from our trees, sealed packaged snacks, etc.
Much success to you and lots of delighted guests!
Presumably you have an alcohol license or the equivalent for your country @Josh1969
Ask them to bring their own, simplifies everything. (Even in California 😎)

Our amazing Hosts have proactively offered their diverse perspectives to help you in making this decision. As they have mentioned, it might be worthwhile to review the California hosting rules and obtain any necessary licenses if required.
