Can’t find my room when searching for room only, it only appears when searching for any type

Hi all,

I have just listed my top floor room on Airbnb but I have noticed that when I search on Airbnb for “any type” my room

shows on the map but when I search for “room” only it disappears.

Is there anything I need to change to ensure it shows when searching for room only. I have selected in the property type on the listing that it is a room in a house. But is there something I am missing here?

Thanks in advance

Hi @Oliver970

Double-check that your listing is set as a “Private room” (or “Shared room” if applicable) in the listing settings.

If you’ve selected “Entire place” but your listing only includes one room in a shared home, Airbnb will categorize it accordingly, which may confuse the search filters.

Ensure the bedroom/bathroom and guest access settings accurately reflect that it’s a room in a shared property.

Boost your visibility and attract your first bookings faster by offering a 20% discount to your first three guests. This limited-time offer helps you gather valuable reviews quickly, build credibility, and climb the search rankings on Airbnb.

Thanks @Patricia2526

It is set as room only already but for some reason when i search for it, it appears when i select any type of property in the filter but dissappears when I select to filter properties by room only. Airbnb dont seem to be able to fix it either at the moment, they kept saying wait until it is live but it is already live. They have now sent me a message to say it is live and should be fixed but it isnt fixed.

When you say "Ensure the bedroom/bathroom and guest access settings accurately reflect that it’s a room in a shared property."  - do you mean when you click on the room in the listing - i cant see anything here that says anything about room in shared property although ive written it in the description and various places.

Thanks

Oli

@Oliver970

I think @Patricia2526 is correct.

I would show this listing as an Entire Place/Guest Suite. Be sure to indicate if the guest has their own private entrance, or if you share the entrance and any other shared spaces (like the laundry room/washer).

Missing Amenities

You might want to update your amenties list. Airbnb says you don't have hot water, Heating, Essentials (TP, towels, linens)

Thanks Joan for this. Ive tried changing the property type as you have suggested but the problem is still happening annoyingly.

@Oliver970

You may need to contact Airbnb CS and tell them you have changed the property type and don't want to be under the Rooms Category.

You will not appear under "Rooms" anymore when the guest uses that search filter, as Guest Suite is NOT considered a room. You also won't appear under "Entire Home" as a Guest Suite is not considered an entire place. You should appear under "Any Type" filter.

If you want to keep the "Room" Property type, go back and change it to Room and contact Airbnb and ask why your listing is not showing up under "Room" when guests search using the Room Filter.
