Can’t find my room when searching for room only, it only appears when searching for any type

Hi all,

I have just listed my top floor room on Airbnb but I have noticed that when I search on Airbnb for “any type” my room

shows on the map but when I search for “room” only it disappears.

Is there anything I need to change to ensure it shows when searching for room only. I have selected in the property type on the listing that it is a room in a house. But is there something I am missing here?

Thanks in advance

Hi Rodney

I think I spoke to Airbnb and they mentioned about making sure private room is mentioned in the description copy and title so I did that and after a few days it changed to Private room when searching for it.

Hope this helps.

See this post regarding the Rooms Category....

https://community.withairbnb.com/t5/Host-circle/Room-Hosts-Make-Sure-You-Are-in-Rooms-Category/td-p/...

Many Hosts are not even aware their Rooms listing (Home Share) is not appearing when a guest selects the Room filter. This is a direct result of Airbnb's removal of Categories. I don't think Home share Hosts are aware they need to apply for the Rooms Category when creating a listing (don't believe Airbnb advises them they should) and consequently, they never apply to be in the Rooms Category.

Don't know for sure what a Host sees when creating a new listing in the Rooms category, as none of the Hosts I work with do Home share. If there is no automatic designation of Rooms when the property type is selected on a new listing for Categories, then those Hosts are missing out as they will not appear in a guest search using the Rooms filter (it appears).

Airbnb should automatically add Home Hosts to the Room Category when they select Rooms in property type when creating a new listing. Seems like they will also have to do some "retro coding" to find all the listings that say Room and make sure they are in the Rooms Category. No idea how that would work - something for Engineering Team to figure out I guess.
