I'm having trouble getting airbnb to update my listing so it appears in searches when the "room" filter is applied.
I've messaged and called multiple times. I tried updating through the Elevate link, but It's been over a month and it hasn't changed.
Any advice?

Hi @Alicia1326 😊
I’ve run into this before, and usually the issue comes from how Airbnb categorizes the property type on the backend. Even if you’ve selected “Room” on your end, the system may still be reading it as a full “Home/Apartment,” which prevents it from appearing when guests use the Room filter.
Here are a few things that have helped me and other hosts:
1️⃣ Double-check your property type
Go to:
Listing → Property & Rooms → Property Type
Make sure it’s set to “Private Room” or “Room in a home,” not “Entire home” or “Apartment.”
2️⃣ Update the “Room in” section
Make sure Airbnb knows what type of building the room is inside (house, condo, etc.).
This is another thing that affects how listings appear in search filters.
3️⃣ Try toggling your visibility
I’ve fixed glitches by:
This forces Airbnb to reindex it.
4️⃣ Contact support through “Ask a Superhost”
They sometimes respond faster and can nudge the tech team if something is stuck.
Go to: Menu → Help → Ask a Superhost
5️⃣ Worst case, duplicate the listing
If Airbnb’s system has a bug tied to that listing ID, creating a new listing and copying everything over usually makes it appear properly in the Room search filter.
If you want, I can take a quick look at your listing and help double-check your settings. Sometimes it’s just one tiny toggle causing the issue. 😊
I checked my rooms because I didn't have to use elevate.
The Property Type so mine is Room in a House. I did that when I set up Listing then I think within 24 hours, Airbnb added Category Room.

This has been an ongoing issue with Airbnb since they removed categories in April 2025. Hosts creating Rooms listings since then have not been properly placed in the Room Category, as it appears the data connection between the Category Room and the Property Type Room was inadvertently broken when Categories were removed by Airbnb.
This creates a cascade problem, as listings created since April are not appearing in search results when guests use the Search Filter "Room". It's a chicken-egg thing. You need to be in the Room Category in order to appear in the Room Search when that filter is used. You can't get put in the Room Category it seems since Airbnb removed that Category in April.
@Joelle43 posted the thread about this that explains the problem in more detail. A few Hosts have been able to get this fixed after multiple times trying to explain to Customer Service the issue. I am posting the thread again below:
