Help with Cover Photo

Hi, would love feedback on choosing the cover photo. Usually we have used the one of the living room but not sure if an exterior shot would be better? Thanks in advance!

What a great property!  I’m not a photographer or expert by any means. However, I’m told by those that are, that twilight, exterior shots with as many lights on inside/outside do really well. String, lights on the deck, lanterns, pathway/step lighting etc, all add to the shot. It’s suggested to try and get the sky in the top 1/3 of the photo and take at a slight up angle.

Just a few ideas

Your deck is awesome! I would stage it a bit with a lantern on the table, wine glasses, remove the BBQ cover and maybe set the table as if you were going to have a BBQ. Guests like to see themselves enjoying the space. Take the twilight shot after staging the deck.

I would also take a twilight/night shot of the firepit (with fire lit). Take a close up shot at a bit lower angle as if you were sitting in the chairs. Then take a longer shot with fire pit in the foreground and deck lit up in the background.

Luv the close-up fireplace shot! I would definitely keep that in your top 4 photos after the cover photo.

Getting professional photos done may also be helpful to showcase the property. It seems to really increase guest views and hence more bookings, as most guests rely heavily on photos when making a decision to book.

Exterior shot to answer the guest's first question: 'Where am I staying'.  Preferably with Spring/ Summer or Falls colors. 🙂

Dear @Laura5961 ,

When it comes to choosing a cover photo, it's important to consider the purpose and audience of your content. Both interior and exterior shots can be effective, depending on the message you want to convey. Here are a few factors to consider:

  1. Brand Image: Think about the overall image you want to portray. If you want to showcase the cozy and inviting atmosphere of the living room, using an interior shot can be a great choice. On the other hand, if you want to highlight the exterior beauty of the location or create a sense of curiosity, an exterior shot could work well.
  2. Target Audience: Consider the preferences and interests of your target audience. If they are more interested in the design and decor of the living room, an interior shot may resonate better. Conversely, if your audience is more interested in the location or the outdoor experience, an exterior shot might be more captivating.
  3. Variety and Freshness: If you have been using the living room photo for a while, it might be a good opportunity to change things up and provide a fresh perspective. An exterior shot can add variety and grab the attention of your audience.
  4. Context and Purpose: Think about the context in which the cover photo will be used. If it's for a real estate listing, an exterior shot can provide a sense of curb appeal. If it's for a lifestyle blog or magazine, an interior shot can showcase the design and ambiance of the living room.

Ultimately, the decision boils down to what aligns best with your brand, target audience, and the purpose of the cover photo. You could even consider conducting a poll or gathering feedback from your audience to get their opinion on which option they find more appealing. Good luck with your selection!

Hello @Laura5961 !  Actually I really love the photo of your dining room as your cover photo.  If you throw some beautiful brightly coloured flowers on the table and set it, it would be very inviting.  It would let the guests picture themselves gathered around the table.  Just a thought 🙂

Hey @Laura5961 ! We've got some more suggestions from our amazing members. I absolutely agree with @Cathy379 's idea of adding flowers to the table and setting it up, which pairs beautifully with @Fred13 's suggestion of bringing in some seasonal colours. What are your thoughts on this? 😊

Never thought about the dining table as cover photo! Yes definitely can dress the indoor and outdoor tables for better pics. Thanks everyone for the input!
