Hi,
I’ve had 1 guest mention that my charges for the washing machine & dryer are too high. I completely disagree as the UK has the highest energy bills in the Western Hemisphere.
I charge £1.50 per wash & £1.50 per dryer use + I provide the detergents and fabric softeners.
What do you charge?

If the guest feels the charges are too high you can point in the direction of the nearest laundrette which would probably charge £5-7 per wash plus drying.
I include one wash for every guest staying five days or more and then charge £5 for a wash/dry .

I don't charge for use of the washing machine. I don't provide a tumble drier, so that's probably a disincentive to over use.
We have a washer available on the property, and guests are welcome to use it anytime during their stay free of charge.
It's usually better to offer the washer and dryer for free and include them as part of your listing amenities. Guests really appreciate the convenience, and it contributes to a smoother, more positive experience overall. Rather than charging per use, consider adjusting your nightly rate slightly to cover the added energy and supply costs. This approach keeps the experience simple for guests, enhances your listing's value, and can help you stand out from others that charge extra.
