How to change a default language in the listings?

Hi everyone,

I need help changing the default language for my Airbnb listings. Currently, my listings default to the local language based on my location, but I want them to default to English.

I've tried changing the preferred language in Account > Global Preferences and duplicating the listing after changing the preferred language, but these methods didn't work. While I can add a new language, it means I have to maintain and update multiple versions of my listings, which is quite some work.

Has anyone successfully changed their default listing language? Any tips or steps would be greatly appreciated!

Hello @Cyril505! Thank you for your question, I will try to help you. 

The listing language settings work like this: you can write your description using the languages ​​you know (or prefer).

The guests will see your listing in their preferred language (set as their preferred language in their account) with automatic translation, or in the original language of the listing (if they prefer).

Yes I already know that.. But I do have a listing (default Language in German) all others in English, and I don't want to write this listing in German.. The only option I have is to add a new Lanuage (like english) but the default language is still there so then I have to fill in 2 languages which doesn't make sense because Airbnb translate them anyway.

I can't change this Default language that easy, and I am searching how I can do it.

It's 100% not in typical Main Settings with the Language Preference, this I already have on english.

Try changing the Language Preference. Go to:

Listing Editor

Click Preferences Icon Top Right

Click Languages

Sadly that doesn't change the default language of a listing.
It seems you didn't understand, maybe someone else knows how?

Oh...you said you already tried changing the listing in Global Preferences in account settings? Perhaps I did misunderstand, as that should have changed it for you?  What did CS say when you reported the issue to them? As you say, maybe another Host has the answer for you.

Here to see, I can't Delete Deutsch (German), it's set as Default

The Language Preference is on English.

Global preferences is set on English aswell.

I got an update from the engineers, and they informed that the default language of the listing description is automatically selected per your location at the time of listing creation and cannot be changed later.

When viewing Airbnb using web browser, the language that you are viewing in, which is through the domain/subdomain (ex: airbnb.fr or es.airbnb.com) takes priority in determining the listing default locale.
