Hi everyone I was going through the guide for 2 factor authentication https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/2842
But I am unable to see the banner or the option to setup 2 factor authentication, is this onlky available in some countries or for some hosts ?
Hello, Same problem. The link below gives very good detail on how to set up 2FA. But the banner referred to isn't anywhere to be found.
I checked all the likely sections in Settings such as Personal Info, and Logins and security, change Password. My email and tel are verified so I'm not sure why I can't go to the next step.
Would you have a fix for this?
Hello @Andrew3532, welcome to the Airbnb Community Center!
Have you contacted the Support Team for their advice on resolving this issue? Here is the link where you can do that.
Please keep us posted on how everything goes.
Hi! Yes, thank you for checking in.
Support pointed out what I overlooked in the help article. I had wishful thinking but.. It's not used outside of EU. And seems cannot be opted-in beyond what Airbnb offers worldwide, eg a code sent by SMS or email if it identifies a new device or alert if it suspects an attempted hack.
2FA here uses the methods described in the article rather than authenticator apps or a hardware key.
The banner to set up 2FA isn't appearing for me either. I tried a couple different browsers. Was anybody able to get it resolved?
I don't have the banner either. I thought it's my browser or cookies. Tried different computers and browsers. I spent hours trying to find it.
Finally someone in support let me know what's in the help article. It's only available in EU countries and to hosts:

Anyway the 2FA here offers a PIN, security questions. In case of a big data breach, I'm not sure if these two are stored any differently than passwords.
It also offers SMS codes that can be hacked a couple of ways such as smishing.
