…and was surprised to discover how easy it was to make, with the tool! 🙂
Nothing very advanced, I’ve just added 2 photos + a photo of a map (as no links or contact info are allowed), and a few lines of text, for each ”site” mentioned. Then guests can google for more information, if they are interested. I noticed that when entering the name of the place in the tool, lots of nice photos will come up automatically - very convenient, saves time searching for photos.
I think I will not bother to mention the ”big sites/must sees” in Stockholm, as guests can easily find those online themselves. I’m just including local restaurants/cafes in our suburbian area, where to go for nice walks, nearest shops, where go skiing/skating etc. Should have done this much earlier, but having a bit of fun with it now. 😄
I have been updating mine recently you can add 3 photo's no need for a map when a guest clicks on a place a map automatically opens with it,
I created another guide book we live on a island I made it for a big supermarket were guest can buy virtually everything they need in one place,
Not a lot of host know about this, if you are on a desktop and you are in the inbox just to the left of the message box you will see a black button with a cross on it, click that and select to send your guidebook from there, that way all your guest get it. I don't know about if you can do it through the app.
One thing I did notice this weekend is you can preview your guidebook and when you click on one of your recommendations some are Airbnb Experiences, scroll down and your listing should show up on their page, It did for me on a few of them,
Here is mine https://www.airbnb.com/s/guidebooks?refinement_paths[]=/guidebooks/1539783
@Sudsrung0 Thanks for the tip, I'll make sure to send the guidebook to the guests who have booked!
But I wonder: When guests are searching for somewhere to book, how do they see the guidebook? I can see/edit my own guidebook when I am logged in and in "Hosting". And I can see it if I view my own profile here on CC, then I can see lots of other information about the sites, that I did not add. But when I am not logged in, and not in CC, searching for properties as if I were a potential guest, I cannot find my guidebook in my listing. It is probably there, but I cannot see find it...
Hello @Trude0
I see what you mean - I can see your guidebook appears when I click on your profile from the CC but when I go onto your listing as a guest, I can't find it anywhere.
Just had a look on my listing as if I were a guest and my guidebook (I leave all the addresses etc in house manual so don't really use this) appears when you scroll down to "where you'll be" and then it says "show host guidebook" which you then have to click on to access it. So why is yours not showing up? Worth checking if there is maybe something missing at this step because it should be available to all Airbnb users - hosts and guests alike according to the link to the guidebook on airbnb:

I hope you find the solution😉
All the best
Joëlle
@Joelle43: Thanks for checking from your side, and for confirming where I should be looking for it! You were right, there was a step that I had not completed - I had to link the guidebook to my listing. I just assumed that it would automatically be in my profile/listing somewhere - but of course, there are hosts that have several listings, in different locations. Anyway, I think I was able to fix it now!
Great news Trude -glad you found the fix😊
I just had a look at your guide @Trude0 and it looks good! If I were staying at your listing I'd really appreciate having that information to hand. There's some incredible nature around the area, and the food looks good too!
I'm glad you're enjoying playing around with it.
Jenny
@Jenny I am quite enjoying it! (And probably going a bit overboard…)
A suggestion:
It would be great if there was a similar tool for creating nice looking House Manuals, too. Currently, it seems the only option in the app/on the site, is to enter plain text. I’ve created a manual in Powerpoint, so I can have photos to illustrate, e.g show which position window handles should be in to enable micro-ventilation, or show where something is. But the PPT can not be sent to guests via message (I think?), so I have to ask guests for their email adress, if they want to see the manual before arrival. And go off platform, which I prefer to avoid.
If there was a better tool for creating manuals, like the one for guidebooks, we could send these to guests in app. Manuals should probably only be visible for guests we send them to, when we send them, of course, as they will include codes, adresses and other info that might be sensitive.
Something you can suggest internally?
