My account has been hacked

Hello, my name is Odile, I’ll like to get some advice from the community please . My Airbnb account has been hacked, since March 2022. I didn’t not realized till about 2 months ago. I was only getting strange requests from the scammers, not much traffic despite my property being located  in a high demand area. I had to permanently delete my listing. I would like to create a new one, but before I do so, I’ll like to get some tips on how to keep my account secured. Since the hackers have my emails and probably my name; is creating a new listing the way to go in this case ? I’ve tried calling  Airbnb customer service without success. Any tips will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi @Odile309

To keep your new account secure with other email,  new phone number and in good standing, do use a unique password with special characters to create a strong password.

You can review the login history of your Airbnb account, including time, browser, and approximate location. 2-step authentication adds an extra level of security to your new account and helps protect your personal info and payout details.

Please beware of these types of scam activity :

1. Being asked  to book your listing by someone who says they don’t have plans to stay and request that you             refund a portion of their payment back to them. These are the sign of an attempt to transfer money acquired illegally.

2. Being send a message that contains a fake Airbnb link. These links lead to fraudulent web pages that try to steal your information by asking you to enter your account login and password. Fake links are designed to look similar to real Airbnb links and often include “ Airbnb” in the URL. Avoid clicking links or button in message and never shared your login and password. If you already respond or entered your account detail, update your new password immediately.

3. Being asked to communicate or pay outside Airbnb prior to booking, including over the phone, email, other website or message platforms such as WhatsApp.

If you observe similar types of messages, do report them right away.
