NEED HELP…Duplicate listing deactivated

Hello,

We purchased a home in 6/2024 and in 1/2025 we hired an Airbnb super host to co-host and began renting it out. Things were going great, we got 4-5 bookings, had our first renters come and left a 5 star review. Then we received an email from Airbnb saying it was a duplicate listing and would be deleted on 3/16/2025. We appealed and explained those were previous owners, sent proof of ownership, closing docs, etc and they still upheld decision to remove. Co-host and I fought and fought, escalated as far as we could, and after all was said and done they said they’re standing by their decision and it’s final.
I start digging online and find a Reddit post that sounded identical to our situation and they said previous owners had only described their listing and didn’t delete, so on Airbnb’s side it still looked like there were 2 listings. We reached out to sellers and they deleted their listing.
We aren’t sure where to go from here, do I try one more time with Airbnb to get it reactivated now, or are we out of luck? This is extremely disheartening to think we cannot rent this property out, and we may have to sell now.
Has anyone felt with a similar situation? ANY help at all would be appreciated!
Thank you!

@Nikki612 , thanks for the tag @Alex,

Sorry for the delayed response. I would try to create a listing now that the old owners deactivated their listing. See if you are able to post. If it blocks you then contact customer service and have all the documentation ready. It appears that they sided with the older listing so denied your approval. They could not allow a duplicate listing until one was deleted and they probably should have told you this (if this is how their system is works).

Maybe their algorithm is getting better because I swear I have seen duplicate listings (for the exact same listing) as some owners were trying to see what appeals more in terms of the listing heading and write up. It is against the Airbnb terms and conditions though so maybe they have been cracking down on it more.

Try again and let us know how it turns out.

One more thing, there was once a host who said that someone was falsely advertising their home (they lifted all their pics and descriptions) on Airbnb allowing people to book, getting money and angry guests would show up at her place without a place to stay. Another time a renter was subleasing their space on Airbnb without the owner’s consent. So these are two reasons to prevent duplicate listings.
