I’m curious if anyone has run into an similar issue. We rented our home through Airbnb and a guest brought a parrot without our consent. We are a NO pet home and do not allow animals. We documented everything and I still don’t think it’s enough. The guest of course denied bringing a bird. There were feathers, bird food, and bird feces. Our guest denied damages and cleaning fees. He won’t pay out and Airbnb is asking for more when I was told over the phone I had enough documentation. We tried to end his stay sooner and Airbnb told us he had to stay the whole length or get penalized. Does having the home listed as a no pet home even really matter? I think if we ended the stay sooner we would have been better off even with the penalties we would received as a host. The bird wouldn’t have done as much damage if we ended it sooner. We have thousands of dollars in damages and cleaning from this stay. We thought Air Cover would protect us in a case like this.
This stay perhaps got way out of sequence in what should have happened when.
IF you found the bird so unacceptable, the reservation should have stopped immediately. Otherwise it would enter a strange realm of a bird causing 'thousands of dollars' in damages, which supposedly is what happened.
Perhaps start at the beginning. The guest arrived with a parrot and then what happened..?
(I got this strange hard-to-get-out-of-my-mind mental picture now of a parrot the size of a Pterodactyl coming to my place).
Hi @Nancy1880
Sorry to hear about this.
We can look at elevating this within Airbnb, but it'd be useful to know a little more information if possible!
Please let us know and we can try to get you some more help with this.

Hi Jenny,
We rented our home for 2 months during the off season where our rental home is located. We had the home cleaned half through the guest’s stay. When the home was cleaned we were notified by the cleaner that there was an African Grey Parrot in the home and we do not allow pets. The bird was NOT kept in a cage. I called Airbnb immediately and this should be documented on your end. I wanted to end his stay right then but I was told it would hurt us as host to end the stay early. I was told over the phone if I documented everything that Airbnb would support me as a host. Now that the guest has denied having a bird in the home and of course he won’t compensate for extra cleaning fees and furniture replacement. I uploaded photos to Airbnb for evidence that there were obvious signs of a bird in the home. I have provided cleaning receipts and furniture replacement receipts. I have done everything by the book. Airbnb has not denied the claim yet but they are asking for more and there is nothing more I can provide. I was told to provide a receipt for repairs to furniture that is past repair. I have to replace. There isn’t enough time not to replace before the next booking and if I cancel the next booking I was told it would agin hurt me as a host. Also our busy season is about to start now. I would greatly appreciate more help with this issue.
Could you answer the following question for me?
-What protection and support do I have as a host to list my property as a NO pet home and a guests brings a pet?
