New listing not showing? What could be the reason?

I just made a new listing for a place I am prepping to rent. As I am not yet ready to welcome guests, I blocked off this entire March. Could that be the reason it is not showing when I switch to travelling? I was hoping to get it critiqued, so that's why I was looking for it as traveler for a link so other hosts here can see it.

Your listing is now live and bookable from April onwards!  We can go onto each others listings by clicking  on our photo that shows up here and then by selecting "see Airbnb profil".

Ok - but why can I not find it when I switch to traveler and search my town or the nearest big town?

@Joelle43 Ok, I found it when I typed my arrival and departure in April, but it's not listed to the public in March, is that the way Airbnb works that it does not show listings when they are not available?

No, the last 2 questions - I know my listing is live and I can find it as a traveller for April - but not March. Why? I am seeing other hosts places even if some days are crossed off during a month. My whole month of March is crossed off as I wanted feedback and I need to get some other info before I accept bookings.

The Airbnb algorithm will not select a listing that has it's calendar blocked for March if a guest makes a search for a stay for March.  Why?  Because there are usually a 1000 listings to choose from for one given area/extended area and only 15 pages showing 18 listings per page.  It's mathematical, there are just too many listings to choose from so even great listings are not going to be chosen every time, let alone a listing that isn't available to be booked.

If you are seeing listings with blocked off dates in a given month, this just means that their calendar is open but that they have bookings on certain dates which are shown as being blocked.  It's not the same.

If you want feedback on your listing (great idea) I would suggest making another post and ask other hosts for their suggestions and insights.
