No bookings as a new host

Hello everyone, I’m Terry from TwoKeys. I’d like to seek some advice on how I can improve my listing traffic and increase my bookings. It would be great if a Superhost could mentor or guide me through this process.

Hi Terry @TwoKeys-Management0 , welcome to hosting and to the Airbnb Community! 👋

It’s always exciting to see new hosts join our community! I love sharing what’s worked for me and helping others grow their hosting success. Here are a few strategies that helped boost my own bookings:

  • Invest in professional photos. Airbnb now offers a professional photography service for your listings. I used it for all three of mine, and the difference was amazing — high-quality photos really help attract guests and increase visibility. 📸
  • Add thoughtful touches. I like to prepare a welcome basket 🧺 for guests and display a welcome screen with their name, Wi-Fi info, and a friendly note. It creates a personal connection and helps encourage 5-star reviews.
  • Optimize your listing details. Focus on what makes your place unique — local charm, comfort, and convenience always stand out.
  • Be flexible and responsive. Offer shorter minimum stays when starting out and respond quickly to inquiries. That engagement helps your listing rank higher in searches.

Keep showing up, stay consistent, and keep adding little upgrades — those efforts will pay off before you know it. Wishing you great success and lots of bookings ahead! 🌟

Hi Terry @TwoKeys-Management0 !

I’m not a Superhost, but I specialise in helping new hosts improve their listing traffic and bookings. I’d be happy to take a look at your listing and give you clear suggestions on your photos, title, description and pricing - these usually make the biggest difference for visibility.

If you share your listing link, I can review it and offer some tailored suggestions 😊

Hello @Akshatha0

This is a community for hosts and guests . Airbnb asks those using its community NOT to try and use it to promote commercial services such as the ones you are trying to offer.

If you genuinely want to help rather than promote your business - then click on the hosts profile to see their listing and provide them with free help on this community like everyone else does .

Hello @Emiel1 ! I have added my link in my listing. Is there anything else I can do for the people to find me easily? I have adjusted my calender and everything but after 1 month of joining I only manage to get one booking. Looking forward to your response! Thank you!

Hi Terry! 👋

You’re doing all the right things by keeping your calendar updated and engaging here in the community - that activity really helps.

A few extra steps can also improve how easily guests find your listing:

Update something weekly. Even small edits (photo order, first sentence of description, or amenities) help Airbnb’s system recognise your listing as active.

Check your title and cover photo. Guests often decide to click purely based on those two elements - make sure your first photo is bright and inviting, and your title highlights a key benefit (e.g., “Modern condo in Miri city centre – near cafés & beach”).

Verify that you’re visible in search. Open an incognito window, set filters that match your listing (dates, guests, city), and confirm you appear in the results. If not, try slightly broader filters or shorter minimum stays.

Collect early reviews. Even two or three positive reviews strongly influence visibility, so ask every guest for feedback after checkout.

You’re off to a great start - one booking in the first month is quite normal for a brand-new listing. Keep refreshing small details and you’ll begin to see steady growth 😊

If you’d like, I can also take a quick look at your listing and share a few specific improvement ideas tailored to your photos and wording.

Hello @Akshatha0
Thank you so much for your advice! I’ll definitely try out some of the tips you recommended and see how it goes. 😊
Is there anything else I can do to improve besides being active and updating my photos?

Hi @TwoKeys-Management0 Terry! 👋

I’m really glad the tips were helpful - you’re already taking the right steps.

Beyond staying active and refreshing photos, here are a few more ways to improve performance:

Fine-tune your description. Start your first paragraph with one clear highlight that guests care about most (for example, proximity to the beach, parking, or great Wi-Fi). The first 2–3 lines often appear in search previews, so make them catchy and simple.

Re-order your photos. Lead with your brightest, most spacious shot. Many hosts find that just changing the cover photo can boost clicks noticeably.

Add small “trust signals.” Mention things like “fast responses,” “verified host,” or “local tips provided” — they reassure guests quickly.

Check mobile view. Most guests browse on phones, so make sure your text and photos look great on the Airbnb app.

If you’d like, I can take a closer look at your listing and share a short list of tailored suggestions - specific title, description edits, and photo order ideas based on your actual listing page. It only takes me a few minutes to review. 😊

Hi @TwoKeys-Management0 ,

We found our first season of hosting was definitely quieter than  what we get now. ( we only host 4 months of the year in peak tourist season, Broome WA) what helped was the new host discount, you will find it in your pricing options, it offers a discount for the first 3 bookings. Then once your first few ratings come in, bookings will flow better. Guests defiantly look at ratings, but we found the discount tempted the first few booking. In regards to traffic, make sure your prices are comparable to your area, I find switching to traveling on the app and searching my area gives me a clearer view. Also make your opening picture eye catching. Just a picture of the bed or kitchen won’t do. Think of what ppl are traveling to your area for and focus on that, so if you are near the beach and have a beach view make your main picture that.
