Pet charges

Im curious as to The charges other host charge for pets!  Do you charge a nightly rate or weekly rate or how does that work and is there an extra deposit I’ve had one couple show up a day later than they were supposed to with a pet I have a weight limit of up to 40 or 50 pounds Their dog had to weigh at least 150 or 60 pounds.  Their house had been damaged and I couldn’t refuse them and they stayed for five months.  The dog was black and the size of a small bear when they left, it took me four days to clean the apartment.  There was black dog hair everywhere.  I wasn’t sure how to handle that situation because they really had no place to go.  Any advice for future pet owners, I would appreciate.   the couple that just left brought a young dog. The weight was OK. The dog was precious, but the dog was left uncaged and was ripping around the apartment and barking wildly.  I ended up getting permission and bringing the dog up into my quarters.  The dog was frightened and afraid being in a strange place, but settle down quickly after he was with my family and me.

Hello @Sarah-Frances0 👋

It sounds like you’ve had quite the experience with pets in your property! Many hosts charge a nightly fee for pets, but some prefer a flat rate for the whole stay.

@Lorna170 and @Ahmed570 left some helpful advice on another thread titled: Pet Fee

I'd love to hear from others too: @Joan2709, @Leigh625 and @Andrew-and-Jeremy0 have any you ever dealt with similar situations? Any tips to share with @Sarah-Frances0

Hi @Sarah-Frances0 and all,

This is our standard instruction regarding pets:

"Our Pet Fee is $80.00 per rental for up to two (2) animals. A third pet may be permitted for an additional fee of $50.00 after discussion with the host. All animals whether Pets, ESAs or Service Animals must be declared at booking. ESAs and Service Animals may not be left at the cottage unattended for any reason. Please note that the property is not fenced. We ask that Pets be crated when left in the cabin alone or unattended. Animals shall not be permitted to lie on the furnishings or sleep in the beds."

I hope this helps.
