Question about "Advance Notice" in availability settings...

I always thought that 1 days notice meant 24 hours from the time of booking but last night I received a reservation request at 1am for a 2pm check-in (seems like same day to me). I found the request at 8am and declined. The guest was not happy as he was at the airport on his way to Chicago. So my question for hosts is, what does 1 days notice mean? I took a screen shot of the explanation on Airbnb but it doesn't really alleviate any confusion. I looked at my own listing to see if I could request it for a tomorrow (less than 24 hours) and it shows as available. What gives? Screen Shot 2016-09-26 at 6.46.00 PM.png

I would call Airbnb especially if you cancelled an instant book, which will cost you in fines and penalties including impacting your search rankings.

I have Instant Book 3 days. Still get requests within 3 days that I can approve or decline. Usually I can accept but maybe not if they are same day.

Not sure why the person asking was upset, ask same day and I would think your odds are not favourable.

Ahh I don't have IB so I didn't realize that with IB it still lets you request within the setup window.

In that case I don't see a reason why guest would be upset you declined a sane day IB request.

Thanks @David126 and @Andrew90

I definitely did not cancel an Instant Book or any reservation. I merely declined them. The guest was a first time Airbnb user that found a place last minute for business. He assumed that he was set since my place showed as available. I was just surprised to get that kind of request at all. Now I'm wondering whether I should just do the 2 days notice instead of 1 just to be sure I don't get a last minute booking. The language on the website is not clear.

i'm having a similar experience, i'm now received two same day requests (rather late in the day also) even though i have my calendar set to at least one day notice. a few months ago, i checked by trying to book my own listing same day and it didn't even show up. but apparently something has changed recently. i wonder what would happen if i ok'ed same day booking, would i get requests for yesterday?  😉

Happened to me once, they tried to book late and I saw it in the morning and accepted not realising it was for the previous day.

I'm having the same issue. I set the advance notice to "At least 1 day's notice" and just received a request at 6pm for tonight. Does anyone know why this is?

I also got a request at 19:00 after setting the latest request to be 16:00.

There seems to be a bug in the AirBNB availability settings.

It is 2018 and I'm still getting a booking at 8pm for the next day check-in at 8am.. Apparently 1 day notice means literally next calendar day, not 24 hrs 😞 Wish they would fix it
