Scam alert! How can I make sure a listing is real?

This will be my first time using Airbnb so I'm a bit weary about listings being fake.

What can I do to make sure a listing is real and not a scam?

What should I be looking out for?

@Rayna24 it is odd that you have to contact them before booking to check availability. I would be suspicious at this point if they then try to deal direct rather than on Airbnb. Try an email and see what they say.......

Do you think it's legit? It seems that the host joined in April 2022, and there are no reviews yet. The price does seem fair for what the listing is offering.

@Loc168 as long as you book through Airbnb you should be protected. There is always a risk going with a new host but we all started somewhere.
