Scam alert! How can I make sure a listing is real?

This will be my first time using Airbnb so I'm a bit weary about listings being fake.

What can I do to make sure a listing is real and not a scam?

What should I be looking out for?

Thanks

Welcome to Airbnb!

Here are a few things you can do to make sure the listing is real:

(1) Look at the reviews and make sure they seem to talk about the same place you are booking

(2) If the listing says anything about contacting the host outside of Airbnb before booking, DO NOT - this is a well-known scam.

(3) Look at the listing - if it seems "too good to be true" (aka luxurious penthouse for a super low rate) it probably is!

could anybody advise me as to whether this seems to be a legitimate listing please?! Seems all good but no reviews as yet

@Elliott67 I see no reason to think its not real. As long as money is sent through Airbnb you are protected. If you do book ask the host what the check in time is as they have left it off the listing!

anything with abnb.me is fake from what I'm seeing

Hey there, I just booked this Airbnb and I’m looking for some input as too if this place seems legit. No reviews yet but it is new to Airbnb, and some of the photos have realtor water marks on them. What do you guys think please let me know

Hi folks,

Completely new to this so go easy on me. We had booked a beautiful condo in Toronto there. Then all of a sudden we got a refund the host said it's a air B and B issue and he will sort it. Two weeks later he sorted it but it was £100 more due to fees as he said and we paid it. But today I got another refund and he has said the app is useless he's now text me directly to say we have the option to pay outside of the app I've said no obviously and he said no problem he will get it sorted now. But I'm thinking this is too odd. Can someone preferably from the air B and B contact me. As we are worried this is a scam.

Hi friends, I found the listing on Facebook and contacted the host through email before receiving this link saying I was pre-approved to reserve the listing. I'd really appreciate it if you guys could provide input as I'm unsure if this is legit because the deal seemed too good to be true for the price and the location. Thanks! 🙂

@Kevin2506 if it is paid for via Airbnb you should be ok. New listings are always risk as they have no reviews so it should be a little cheaper than normal to make up for this.

Hiya, I found this Airbnb and am now thinking thinking that it's a little too good to be true:

It's a new listing and the host only joined in June, they have 3 other near-identical properties (assumedly in the same apartment block) and it is co-hosted with somebody who has many other properties (all with good reviews) in the same area. It's perfect for our group but there is such little information about the apartment - besides the photos, which can be easily forged - which makes me worried to book it.

Of course, I could be completely overthinking all of this, but I do tend to err on the side of caution. however it is our preferred property in the city and I know that if I didn't book it and instead settled for a more established property and host then I would regret it if it turned out to be perfectly genuine.

Hi, a group of us have booked this airbnb. It had 1 review when we booked so thought we would give the guy a chance. It's not got 6 reviews, but each review is by someone who only has 1 review themselves and its making us feel a little uneasy! I'd appreciate anyone else's input on whether this listing looks okay? The host sent a perfectly pleasant booking confirmation email and nothing shady has been suggested.

Hello,

its my first time using airbnb and it would be for long term renting a place in Gießen, Germany. It is not usual in Germany to rent via airbnb but it would be the perfect flat for me. Can you help me identify, weather it is real or fake? Heres the link:
