Hey everyone 👋
I know from reading here on the Community Center that Airbnb hosts have house rules for all sorts of things, but some of you may have some really unique ones that could only apply to your homes.
It might be distinctive to your Airbnb listing, show your personality, keep your home running smoothly, or simply make your space stand out.
If I had a rule, it would be: “Please don’t feed the seagulls!” Living by the coast, the seagulls are hopeless food thieves!
So I’d love to know, what’s your quirky or unique house rule for your Airbnb home, and what inspired it?
I’m looking forward to reading your responses!
Yes, it is a holiday home near a beach, and the house also has a travel cot available.
Hi @Giovanni1382 😊,
That’s fantastic!
Are they coming during the winter as well, or do you close for that period?
-----
Hi @Giovanni1382 😊,
That’s a beautiful place!
I’m glad you and your guests can enjoy the sun all year round.
Wishing you the best of luck for this hosting season!

Rule: If the chickens, ducks or cats enter the garage, please shoo them out!
Hi @Gina2681 😊,
Thank you for participating here.
This is so funny!
Do you have these animals at your property? I love them.
-----
Yes, they are free ranging and we provide guests with farm fresh eggs during their stay.
Hi @Gina2681 😊,
That’s such an amazing and precious treat!
I love fresh eggs and pay a lot of attention to what I’m buying and where it comes from.
How do you generally feed your hens?

I'm about to add a rule that says something along the lines of "please don't do the beds before you leave. We appreciate the good will but it only confuses the cleaning staff."
That's a simple rule @Javier2447, I like it. When you say 'do the beds', do you mean making them up, or removing the sheets?
@Rebecca Making them. Some people make them so well that we don't even know if they used them.
@Javier2447 Wow! That's impressive but understandable you need your cleaners to know if they've been done or not!
I found a few hosts asked for the beds and towels to be put into a linen bag which was effortless for a guest. Have you thought about doing anything like that?
We are located in Alaska and we have a strict rule for not leaving food or trash outside because it attracts the local Bears wolves and ravens which can cause hugely dangerous situations. Many folks have been put off by this request not understanding the risks.
@Kristy-Marie1, @Lorna170 has said the same thing too regarding wildlife in the area.
Lorna and Kristy, how do you put emphasis on something that's really important, without hopefully putting people off?
