Hi everyone, I am hoping to start renting out my one and only home for a few weeks during the year in England, UK. I am really struggling to find the exact info I need online - do I need to contact my mortgage company? do I need to get some sort of lisence? how do I do the taxes on this? What are our rights as a host - e.g. if someone complains? If anyone could point me in the direction of some useful articles, please let me know.
@Holly635 you don't need a licence. You do need to tell your mortgage company who may cancel your mortgage. Taxes you can do through your normal personal tax forms. You should also worry about your home insurance policy.
For a few weeks a year it may be not worth bothering unless you are in a very expensive holiday area.
Thanks for the tips. What should I do about my home insurance policy?
