Tip of the Week 6 : Providing guest manuals for a comfortable stay

As we share our latest edition of Tip of the Week, Superhost @Anne-Marie79  shares her tips and gripes list. Anne mentions the importance of guest manuals and says  "I leave a detailed Guest Manual in the property as well as emailing guests a copy in advance. Some guests will read one but not the other so this covers both bases."

As we explore this tip, I would like to ask our lovely hosts: Do you provide your guests with a detailed guest or house manual?

Do you think providing informative guides can elevate your guests' experience and make their time with you even more memorable? I would like to invite you to share your thoughts on this topic in the comments section. We’re excited to hear and learn from you all.

Let us share some tips around creating manuals for guests, and don’t forget to give a thumbs up 👍 to the best tips shared. 😊

That sounds fantastic @Hallie33!

A unique touch of humour can really make the manual engaging for guests, and I am sure they would love this unique style. Would you like to share more about your manual with other members, so that they can get some inspiration?

Have you received any specific comments or feedback from guests about the manual's style?

Thank you Bhumika.   I'm happy to share the manual if it is helpful.  I am uncertain how to post in here--if anyone would like to email/message me I'm happy to shoot it over.  Here is an excerpt about how to find the iron and folded mini-iron board  (just a reminder that our AirBnB is a camper and its a pretty tight space).

Is there an iron in here?  Yeppers.  If you would like to spiffy up your clothes, you can find the iron and mini-ironing board in the cabinet above the primary bed.  You will have to do the shimmy around the mattress to the right side of the bed, but once you are there – your iron awaits.  Now, after you iron your clothes, if you can’t get that cute little ironing board back to its yoga pose, do not fret.  Just leave it on the bunk bed and we will take care of it.  Life is too short for frustration with such things.  Now if you are someone the feels accomplished by solving these types of puzzles, by all means – continue on.

Totally open to feedback, both constructive and supportive!  We appreciate being part of this community!

No I apologize we do not have any Manuals. There is a brochure about the redwoods and the coast in the cabin.

That's great @Jessica3295! What sorts of information do you prefer to provide your guests through these manuals? Do your guests find these manuals helpful throughout their stay?

All my house rules are in my listing, and printed out on a clipboard hung on a column in my loft where guests can see them. I also have the check-in “manual” on an automated message that’s sent to guests 24 hours before check-in.

Hey @Karah11 ,

Having the house rules both in the listing and as a clipboard in the loft sounds like a great idea. How do guests typically respond to this setup?

Have you noticed if the automated message of the check-in manual has created a smoother process for guests? Do they mention about it in their reviews?

My house manual was the first thing I worked on. There's a copy in the listing and I put a paper copy in the apartment. I like it because it helps make sure the most common questions are answered and makes sure they can enjoy all the features of the property

Dear @Josh-and-Angelica0 ! Would u be so kind to give me some info on how you issued the house rules? Have u followed a template or something? I am new to this and want to make all perfect for guests. Thank you very much

Hi @Josh-and-Angelica0, Seems like many hosts prefer both digital as well as paper copies of their manuals! Would you like to share which are the most common questions asked by your guests?

Also seems like our dear Host @Loredana231 is very much interested in getting some inspiration about the house manuals and rules. Would you mind sharing your insights and tips for other Hosts who are looking for some advice about manuals?

Looking forward to learning more from you!
