Hi Michael & Alexandra,
I appreciate your enthusiasm and openness to feedback. You have a great space with strong potential, and with a few refinements, your listing can stand out even more.
Strengths of Your Listing
Spacious Layout – Your property offers a good amount of space, which is a big plus for guests.
Natural Light – Your home appears bright, which creates a welcoming feel.
Outdoor Area – If properly highlighted, this could be a major selling point.
Holiday Decor – The Christmas-themed photos look fantastic! The warm brown tones combined with red accents create a cozy and festive atmosphere.
Areas for Improvement
Design & Styling Adjustments
Living Area: Consider defining zones better. Right now, the space feels a bit scattered. A well-placed rug and better furniture arrangement could create a cozier and more cohesive atmosphere.
Wall Art & Decor: Some areas feel a little plain. Adding statement artwork, textured throws, and decorative elements can make the space more inviting.
Add Greenery: Right now, the space leans heavily on brown tones. Introducing plants (even artificial ones) would bring freshness and balance to the design. A few strategically placed green accents would make the space feel more vibrant and stylish.
Listing Description
Focus on storytelling—make guests imagine themselves enjoying the space. Instead of just listing features, highlight experiences (e.g., “Enjoy a cozy morning coffee on the patio with scenic views”).
Add a bit more personality—mention what makes your home unique and why guests will love staying there.
Final Thoughts
Your space has a lot of potential! A few small tweaks in design, staging, and how you present your home can make a significant impact on your bookings and guest experience. Keep refining, and you’ll see great results!
Wishing you success on your hosting journey!
@Oksana127 Thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback—it’s greatly appreciated! We're actually planning some updates at the end of February when we'll be in town. These include staining the deck, adding new patio furniture and a gas fireplace, as well as introducing more accent painting and wall art to enhance the space.
I hadn't considered adding plants and more colorful decor, but I really like that idea! Your input is invaluable, and we’ll certainly take it into consideration as we work to make the cabin even better for future guests.
@Michael-and-Alexandra0 It's a gorgeous property and you're off to a great start.
I'm with @Oksana127 in that you need to add some color to your decor. You have too-much-wood syndrome. Some color would make your place pop!
I also own a log cabin, but a much humbler version, as in hand built of actual logs. You're welcome to take a look at my listing if you like. I'm not saying that I'm the ultimate interior decorator or anything, but between the logs, the tongue and groove ceilings, and the chinking, I had to break all of that up with some color.
A large rug in your living room area would make a huge difference. It would really pull the room together (Big Lebowski reference). Some more color in the art on the walls would help too. It doesn't have to be gaudy, just help to break up the earth tones. Rugs in the bedrooms would warm the decor up.
Overall, it's a fantastic place and I'm sure you'll do very well. Good luck!
@Kia272 Thank you for taking the time to help us out. I'm going to the cabin in two weeks to do some deck painting/sealing. I will add some more colorful art and some other colored decor. My wife is doing more interior trim accenting. Can you give me an idea of what decor you'd add, fake flowers, etc...
@Michael-and-Alexandra0 I'd actually definitely start with the rugs. They'll make the rooms much more cohesive, and it's a nice pop of color. I'd go with some fake oriental rugs, which you can get on Amazon for not a ton of money. (don't go too cheap though, because they will look cheap)
I'm not big on fake flowers. Maybe some throw pillows and some botanical or nature art? Maybe simple things that come in a series of two or three? Do you know what I mean? Two or three frames with like- images or a theme. They look more pulled together than just random art, and they can fill a wall if spaced nicely.
Honestly, you've got a great foundation to work with, and I think these things will put your listing over the top.
Take a look at my listing if you have the time. Again, not saying I'm a premier interior decorator, but we are working with the same materials. Come back and let us know how it turns out!
I completely agree with your ideas @Kia272 !
!Rugs will absolutely help tie the rooms together while adding a nice pop of color. A good-quality faux Oriental rug can make a huge difference without breaking the bank
I’m also with you on the throw pillows and botanical/nature-themed art. A set of two or three matching frames with a cohesive theme is a great way to make the space feel more intentional and polished. It fills a wall nicely without looking cluttered.
