What is the highest number of consecutive bookings you've had?

 Hey there,

Optimizing listings and getting more bookings is always a much-talked-about topic here at the Community Center. With the wealth of knowledge from so many inspiring Hosts, it's amazing to see you all sharing your experiences and sharing your wins.

So with that in mind, we'd love to hear what's the highest number of consecutive bookings you've had.

What do you think has made the difference in ensuring your listings are consistently booked as well as providing a great experience for your guests?

@Breanna I have absolutely no idea. We do however bounce between worrying about drops in reservations and then getting annoyed by the need to clean regularly! One thing I can see is that the recent downturn has people booking much closer to their point of travel. I do wish Airbnb would publish the odd statistics on this to see if it is a market thing or an individual host thing.

7 straight years of bookings of 4-day minimum stays. At one time (2017) we were  booked 3 years ahead,  thanks to Airbnb. This year has been different, now only 8 months ahead booked, which is fine with us, allowing us to close for two months this Fall.

The reason for such an unusual record may be because we have a place that can change drastically (aka improve) every year without any government interference and we do put back at least 20%-25% of what we make into it. We have no clue if that makes the difference, but it fits our nature of loving change and always scare about not getting bookings. 🙄

@Fred13 Oh to have a non-interfering government. Surely there are some controls in Belize?

Some, minimal ones, only the necessary basics at this time.

When I arrived in Belize (14 years ago) the first thing I noticed was how few government buildings there were and half of them not looking like some extravagant ivory-towered campus full of politicos. Perfect.

When I visit many western countries today I think about how they forgot  the lessons and struggles it took to dismantle first a feudal system,  end the divine rights of kings, the rise of democracy, of capitalism, or the endless warnings by the giants of thought (Locke, Blackstone, Bentham,  Burke, Jefferson) during The Age of Enlightenment of the dangers of big government.

I suspect some of us were born during the best of time.

Nice job Fred on the bookings!!! Also thanks for all your input over the years. Love reading what you have to say. HAPPY HOSTING 😃

Thank you Kathy. I see you also have had a long fortunate hosting journey. 🥂
