One thing I’ve learned from hosting is that guest experience really comes down to the small touches and responsiveness. Curious to hear...what’s one thing that has made the biggest difference in your hosting success?
HI @Angel10141 ,
For me, the biggest difference has been setting clear expectations from the start and staying highly responsive throughout the stay.
I’ve learned that most issues—and especially conflicts—don’t come from the property itself, but from misaligned expectations. So I focus on being very transparent in the listing and communication: what the house is, what it isn’t, and how it should be used. That alone filters the right guests.
Then, during the stay, I make sure guests know I’m available and attentive. Quick, direct responses create a sense of support and prevent small concerns from escalating.
In short, my approach is simple: clarity + responsiveness = fewer problems and better experiences on both sides.
This is so true, most guests are lovely. As long as the communication is transparent and the expectations are set before arrival, any extra touch becomes a pleasant surprise.
After all, we're providing a service, being present, being genuine, and being thoughtful when guests reach out already goes a long way toward earning a 5-star review.

Another little thing that our guests really are impressed by is the towel warmer in the bathroom.
Not only are their towels are usually warm and dry when the use them again, but it prevents them from getting musty. It also helps keep the basement bathroom warm during the cold Manitoba winters.

Lesson learned!!! Thank you 🙂
Great decor helps but if you reply instantly and your pricing is slightly better than comps, you’ll win bookings and reviews consistently. Everything else just supports that.
We run a beautiful Nordic Spa Lakehouse in the Canadian wilderness… it’s magical as is, but the extra touches are what guests really notice:
- scent free biodegradable products throughout the house
- a complimentary bottle of local wine, or sparkling fruit if they prefer
- fresh flowers
- organic coffees (drip, espresso and decaf)
- bowl of snacks, including organic hot cocoa packets, popcorn and cookies
- a handwritten welcome note
What a beautiful place you have @Christina2259 , the photos are absolutely stunning...wowwww!!!!! I've earned a lot from your comments and your listing. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for the compliments!
From my experience, it really comes down to:
• Pricing (this will make or break occupancy)
• Cleanliness (this drives reviews more than anything)
• Clear expectations — especially around pool/spa use 😂
Once those are solid, everything else tends to fall into place.
