What's the one thing you wish you knew before you created your first listing on Airbnb?

Hello! 👋 I am preparing to list my cottage on Airbnb in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia this fall and am looking for some guidance and any hot tips people might have about getting started. I know this is a bit of general question, but I'm finding it a bit overwhelming, and I want to ensure I get started off on the right foot by hearing from people who have been through it.

Some things to note:
- I won't always be around the cottage for check-in / check out, so that's something to note
- The cottage is a 2 minute walk to a private beach
- We use this as a family cottage as well, so I'm curious what people do to store their personal belongings securely

Hi @Amanda3269

It's a very exciting time for you!

Are you planning on managing this listing on your own or are you going to enrol the help of a co-host?

This guide for new hosts written by @Joan2709 might be a good place to start. I will also mention a few other hosts to see if they have any words of wisdom to share with you based on your specific setup - @Patricia2526 @Rose422 @Joseph2571 @Per-Kuttainen-Ylimattila0 @Mia1090 what do you think?

Have a lovely day 🙂

Emilie

Thanks for the reply @Emilie ! I believe I will end up making a family member a co-host, so we will be splitting responsibilities. Thank you for the guide, this is very helpful!
