new iPhone takes HEIC photos and they aren't uploading

I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max and the photos are uploaded into my Google Drive and then downloaded to my laptop to put on my new AirBnB listing.  But the photos are not recognized by AirBnB's platform - I figured out that they are saved as HEIC instead of JPEG files with this new technology.  It's the best new smartphone camera on the market at the moment.  What can I do?  Help!

HEIC (High-Efficiency Image Coding) format can be converted to other format, like JPG.

Google for offline and online solutions. It also seems Apple automatically converts the files when you upload to social media.

I converted the photos to .JPG on my PC and it still won't upload correctly to airbnb.com...does it work better on the iphone airbnb app??? I also converted the images to .jpeg and it still won't upload properly. It shouldn't be this hard!

Yes, I try to save as HEIC file to both jpg and jpeg file type but there isn't work either .

Just an idea to figure out where the problem is

1.  Try loading a .jpg file not from your phone.

2. In other work I do, we were having trouble because the converted images on search engines were a problem because size of converted file too big or to small.  I was just able to open the converted file on my desktop and for the search engines, we finally figured out changing Pixels to 1500 worked for that problem.

I'm having the same issue with my Samsung Galaxy S21 photos that are HEIC.

I can't select them within the AirBnB message photo picker. I can find the photo my in Gallery app then share to the AirBnB app message, but then that message perpetually fails to send.

Yes...if you have photos on your phone they are stored in the HEIC format to save file space. Just email them to yourself and download on a laptop and then add to your listing as a normal jpg. When prompted what size to attach to email say original size. You may need to only send 4 or 5 photos at a time due to file limitations on email.

You can also use WeTransfer App on your phone to send the photos to yourself via an email. It is free for the non-pro version. They will be sent via a zip folder so you can send them all at once. Once you receive the file your computer should automatically unzip them for you and then add the photos to your listing from your laptop.

Sure, me and every other person who deals with this issue could use that clunky time-wasting workaround. 

Or Airbnb could update their app to handle it properly like every single other app I use, either supporting HEIC natively or automatically converting it to JPG.

Agree....you are right. In the meantime, the "clunky, time-wasting, work around" is all there is. 😊
