"Airbnb Experiences"

Hi All

On my Airbnb home homepage I now have "Welcome to the world of trips".   Following this flashy headline are examples of host who provide a variety of "experiences".  After clicking around a bit I found the field to apply to become a host of experiences.  However, an auto message advised experiences aren't available in my area.

Has anybody managed to become a host of Airbnb experiences?  I would love to host a small scale farming experience including a meal.  Anybody else keen?

Regards

Janice

Hi janice I am in a similar situation. We have a farm stay for our air bnb listing and usually offer a farm tour to see the animals and garden area.  I also use the wool from our sheep to spin yarn and felt. I would like to offer a wooly experience. I hope this becomes more doable soon. good luck to us: Sage

@Janice1 I too got excited about this new angle, but also got that message. However there is nothing to stop you from offer experiences to your guests without this option anyway. Just mention it in your listing.  And when u get a booking ask if they would like to take you up on the chance to participate in the experience for x$

I was so excited today when I saw the new "Experiences" opportunity.   My brain went crazy with a new idea, and by the time I got to my big computer, I discovered that the opportunity is only available in a few cities.  I'm heartbroken, because it seemed an important way to shift my Airbnb into a new era that was more than just hospitality for income.

I want to offer my home (which has three listing options that total sleeping 11 people) for a weekend retreat on positive, creative steps for progressive activism.  I wouldn't turn away conservative guests, although I imagine that the possibility would be somewhat like lactose intolerant guests signing up for a dairy festival.  People who don't want this experience simply wouldn't book, in the same way that many wouldn't want to bungie jump or read War and Peace.  However, millions are seeking ways to make a difference in the wake of the women's marches.  I would still have my Airbnb income, and the guest would have a productive getaway with likeminded people.

This experience would meet the criteria they've set.  I have personal and career background speaking to crediblity. The experience would be in a beautiful setting, with meaningful participation, and unique and insightful perspectives. It would be positive, inclusive, empathetic, and adaptable.

I have a beautiful home, great ways to cook for people, indoors and out, space to work in small or large groups. There are nearby hiking opportunities by the river or in the hills, and evening music at the local coffee house.  My idea is to simply list my home for a particular weekend, and when it fills, it fills.  (I'd unlist the other listings so that only the retreat guests would be on site.)  I could provide a complementary handknit p-hat!  We could have brainstorming sessions that could translate into creative ways to seed groups back in their home areas.  I'd love to put together a very specific program proposal, but it seems like it will be a millenium before my little New Mexican town is listed next to Paris and Seoul.

Welcoming your thoughts.

Susan

Today, I watched the Webner, introduction to experiences .  This webner took a common sense approach to designing experiences.  EG how to take a good photo. copy write issues, catering to different levels of experience in a group, subject depth and so on.  From memory I think they said it will be a 20% fee on the host of the experience.

Hi Friends ~

Julie here; host from Seattle. Yay for the new Experiences feature!

For the Admins (or anyone else who knows!):

  1. What is Airbnb's plan/timeline for rolling this feature out in other cities?
  2. How is Airbnb reaching out to the Host community to create Experiences? Are Superhosts given a priority?
  3. Currently it doesn't appear that the Experiences are searchable by city, however, the UI suggests that they are; wondering if this is a bug.

Thanks

How long those it take for airbnb to accept my experience? Right now it says it's under review, when will they tell me if it's suitable?
